''Songs from Ally McBeal'' is a soundtrack album by American singer Vonda Shepard, featuring music from the American television series ''Ally McBeal''. It was released on May 5, 1998, by 550 Music and Sony Music Soundtrax. The album consists mostly of cover versions of songs from the 1960s, aside from four original songs, including the series' theme song, "Searchin' My Soul", which originally appeared on Shepard's 1992 album ''The Radical Light''. The album topped the charts in Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, and Sweden, while reaching number three in the United Kingdom and number seven in both the United States and Canada. Vonda Shepard
Vonda Shepard (born July 7, 1963) is an American singer, songwriter, music director, and actress. She is perhaps best known for her starring role as a fictionalized version of herself on the television series '' Ally McBeal'' (1997–2002), for which she recorded five soundtrack albums as well as the series' theme song " Searchin' My Soul", which saw international commercial success. Shepard has otherwise released nine studio albums and three live albums. Four Tops
The Four Tops are an American vocal group formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1953 as the Four Aims. They were one of the most commercially successful American pop music groups of the 1960s and helped propel Motown Records to international fame. Chilton Price
Chilton Price (December 25, 1913 – January 14, 2010) was an American songwriter, primarily known for country music songs, which became pop music hits. She was born Chilton Searcy near Fern Creek, Kentucky, the daughter of Chesley Hunter Searcy, a lawyer, and Lillian Searcy, a pianist. At the age of 5, she was taught a couple of piano chords by her father, who was an amateur musician who played by ear. She studied music appreciation at the University of Louisville. During the 1930s and 1940s, she played violin for the Louisville Orchestra. She got a job as a music librarian at the Louisville radio station WAVE, where country music artists Pee Wee King and Redd Stewart were regular performers. Henry Ellis Stewart (May 27, 1923 – August 4, 2003), better known as Redd Stewart, was an American country music songwriter and recording artist who co-wrote " Tennessee Waltz" with Pee Wee King in 1948. Biography He was born in Ashland City, Tennessee, United States. While still a child, his family moved to Louisville, Kentucky. At an early age, he learned to play several musical instruments such as the banjo, piano, fiddle and guitar. He changed his first name to Redd because of his red hair and complexion. Biography Giovanna Carmella Babbo was born to an Italian-American family in Chicago, Illinois, on September 22, 1930, as one of six children supported by her widowed mother. The song was published in Hollywood on April 21, 1952, and the most popular version was by Jo Stafford, reaching No. 1 on both the UK and US singles charts. "Hooked on a Feeling" is a 1968 pop song, written by Mark James and originally performed by B. J. Thomas. Michael Brown (born Michael David Lookofsky, April 25, 1949 – March 19, 2015) was an American keyboardist and songwriter, most notable for his work with the Left Banke. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of violinist and arranger Harry Lookofsky. The Left Banke Brown was the principal songwriter for the 1960s baroque-pop group the Left Banke, writing their two biggest hits, " Walk Away Renee" and "Pretty Ballerina". He also was a harpsichordist and clavinet player for the band.
