Sometime In August
''Sometime in August'' () is a 2009 German drama film directed by Sebastian Schipper, starring Marie Bäumer, Milan Peschel, André Hennicke and Anna Brüggemann. It tells the story of Thomas and Hanna, a happily married couple settled on the countryside, whose relationship is challenged when they are visited by Tomas' brother and Hanna's goddaughter. The film is loosely based on the 1809 novel ''Elective Affinities'' by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The film premiered in the Forum section of the 59th Berlin International Film Festival. It won the Grand Prix at the Cabourg Film Festival. Sebastian Schipper
Sebastian Schipper (born 8 May 1968) is a German actor and filmmaker. Life and career Sebastian Schipper studied acting at the Otto Falckenberg Schule in Munich from 1992 to 1995. He got his first film role in Sönke Wortmann's '' Little Sharks'' from 1992. He debuted as director with '' Absolute Giganten'' from 1999, which received the second place prize for the German Film Award for Best Fiction Film. It was co-produced by Tom Tykwer, who has cast Schipper in several of his own films. Schipper's 2009 film '' Sometime in August'' is loosely based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's novel ''Elective Affinities''. His fourth film as director is '' Victoria'', a film about a night in a Berlin nightclub gone awry, shot in one continuous take. It played at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival and won in six categories at the German Film Award 2015, including Best Film and Best Direction. Gert Voss
Gert Voss (10 October 1941 – 13 July 2014) was a German actor. He was known for his roles in ''Labyrinth of Lies'' (2014), '' Sometime in August'' (2009) and ' (1987). He was member of the ensemble of the Burgtheater, and a ''Kammerschauspieler''. Life Gert Voss was born in Shanghai, China, to Wilhelm Voss, an import/export merchant, and his wife Marion (née Steinhütte). He lived in China until 1948 after which the family moved to a residence near Lake Constance. He studied German and English at the University of Tübingen for several semesters, but he broke off his studies when he succeeded in an acting proficiency test. Voss took private drama lessons from 1964 to 1966 with Ellen Mahlke, followed by his first theater engagements.
