Soman
Soman (or GD, EA 1210, Zoman, PFMP, A-255, systematic name: ''O''-pinacolyl methylphosphonofluoridate) is an extremely toxic chemical substance. It is a nerve agent, interfering with normal functioning of the mammalian nervous system by inhibiting the enzyme cholinesterase. It is an inhibitor of both acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. As a chemical weapon, it is classified as a weapon of mass destruction by the United Nations according to UN Resolution 687. Its production is strictly controlled, and stockpiling is outlawed by the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993 where it is classified as a Schedule 1 substance. Soman was the third of the so-called ''G-series'' nerve agents to be discovered along with GA (tabun), GB (sarin), and GF (cyclosarin). When pure, soman is a volatile, corrosive, and colorless liquid with a faint odor like that of mothballs or rotten fruit. Soman is a power noise/techno act from Germany. They have had several hits in the Deutsche Alternative Charts. Biography Originally, Kolja Trelle worked as sound engineer with Absurd Minds, Hocico, and Terminal Choice, and remixed songs by VNV Nation, Rotersand, and Tom Wax. Trelle signed a record deal with Out of Line for his musical project Soman. Soman's debut album, ''Sound Pressure'', was released in 2003. Bhaskar Sadashiv Soman
Admiral Bhaskar Sadashiv Soman (30 March 1913 – 8 February 1995) was an Indian Navy Admiral. He was in command of the Indian Navy from 1962 to 1966 as the 5th Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS). Early life Soman was born in Gwalior, the capital of the eponymous princely state. He received his early education at the Indian National Congress' Tilak Vidyalaya and at a school in Sangli State. Career He subsequently entered the Royal Indian Marine (RIM), and following initial training on the training ship ''T/S Dufferin'', was selected for officer training in the United Kingdom in 1932. He was appointed a sub-lieutenant in the RIM on 1 September 1934, and was promoted to lieutenant on 1 September 1937. During World War II, Soman was promoted to acting lieutenant-commander on 29 April 1944, and to the permanent rank of lieutenant-commander on 1 September 1945. Chitra Kulathummuriyil Soman (born 10 July 1983) was born in Kottayam, Kerala. Her father is from Kottayam and her mother is from kanjirappally, Kerala. She is an Indian sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. Soman finished seventh in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2004 Summer Olympics, together with teammates Satti Geetha, K. M. Beenamol and Rajwinder Kaur. This team, only with Manjeet Kaur running instead of Geetha, had set a national record of 3:26.89 minutes in the heat. Soman also ran for the Indian team who won a silver medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. In 2007, Chitra Soman won gold medal in 400m race at Asian Grand Prix series held at Guwahati on 23 June 2007 and at Puen held on 27 June 2007.
