Soldan Family
The House of Soldan (also spelled Söldán, Șoldan) was an old noble family in medieval Moldavia. In the 16th and 17th centuries, members of the family assumed important offices within the princely chancellery of the Moldavia, Principality. Origins The family is mentioned for the first time in Romanian documents in a charter from 22 September 1411, when the sons of Soldan the Old receive from the prince of Moldavia important feudal domains on the Șomuz valley. In the charter, Alexander I of Moldavia, Alexander the Good offers to Peter Soldan, his wife (the daughter of boyar Ghiulea Capitaneus, captain of the Moldavian army) and to his brother, Miclaus, the Tatars, Tatar slave villages at Tamârtășăuți on the Șomuz. The estate is called from that moment onwards Șoldănești. At the same time, Peter and Miclaus Soldan are the first known slave owners in Moldavia in Wallachia. José Edmundo Paz-Soldán Ávila (Cochabamba, 29 March 1967) is a Bolivian writer. His work is a prominent example of the Latin American literary movement known as McOndo, in which the magical realism of previous Latin American authors is supplanted by modern realism, often with a technological focus. His work has won several awards. He has lived in the United States since 1991, and has taught literature at Cornell University since 1997. Career Some early pieces were published while he was still at high school. However, he started writing seriously at age 19 when he was in Buenos Aires, studying International Relations. He transferred to the University of Alabama in Huntsville, receiving a football scholarship. Sultan
Sultan (; ', ) is a position with several historical meanings. Originally, it was an Arabic abstract noun meaning "strength", "authority", "rulership", derived from the verbal noun ', meaning "authority" or "power". Later, it came to be used as the title of certain rulers who claimed almost full sovereignty (i.e., not having dependence on any higher ruler) without claiming the overall caliphate, or to refer to a powerful governor of a province within the caliphate. The adjectival form of the word is "sultanic", and the state and territories ruled by a sultan, as well as his office, are referred to as a sultanate ( '. Heikki Taavetti Aho (29 May 1895 – 27 April 1961) is viewed as a pioneer of Finnish documentary film. Aho worked with his half-brother Björn Soldan (1902–1953) through their film production company Aho & Soldan (1925–1961) the Finnish documentary film tradition was born. Aho & Soldan was founded in 1925 in Helsinki, largely to enable a visual image of Finland as a newly born nation, and was active until 1961. Mariano Felipe Paz Soldán y Ureta (August 22, 1821 - December 31, 1886), Peruvian historian and geographer, was born in Arequipa, Peru. He was Minister of Justice and Instruction and Minister of Foreign Relations. Education and early career Paz Soldán was the son of Manuel Paz Soldán and Gregoria de Ureta Araníbar and was educated at Seminary of San Jerónimo and University of San Agustín, where he obtained a degree in Law. Ugur Soldan (born 1978) is a Turkish author, critic, academic and lecturer. He was born in Mut, a town of the province Mersin in Turkey, in 1978. After graduating from primary school in Hocalı, the village where he was born and spent his childhood years, Ugur Soldan completed his secondary and high school education at Mersin Dumlupınar Lyceum.
