Social Democratic Party Of Kosovo
The Social Democratic Party of Kosovo (, PSD) is a political party in Kosovo. It was established on 10 February 1990 by Kaqusha Jashari, and was the second political party to be established in the newly pluralist Kosovo. Leadership The current leader of the party is Dardan Molliqaj. He was chosen at the party's meeting on 15 December 2019. Presidents of the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo (1990–present) In Parliament PSD participated in the 2017 Kosovan parliamentary election, elections of 2017 in a coalition with Democratic Party of Kosovo, PDK, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, AAK and Social Democratic Initiative (Kosovo), Nisma, but failed to get any seat in the parliament. The party was represented in parliament by 12 MP's, who all dissolved into the party from the Group of the Independent Deputies, a group of former members of the Vetëvendosje movement. 2019 Kosovan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo on 6 October 2019. The main opposition parties received the most votes, led by Vetëvendosje and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti became Prime Minister, forming a governing coalition with the LDK on an anti-corruption platform. He is the second Prime Minister not to have been a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army during the 1990s. Background On 19 July 2019 Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj resigned after being summoned for questioning by the KSC in The Hague, Netherlands. The constitution requires the President to designate a new candidate to either form a government, or hold new elections in between 30 and 45 days after consultation with political parties or coalitions who hold a majority in the Assembly. Dardan Sejdiu
Dardan Sejdiu (born 13 August 1979) is a Kosovo Albanian politician. He served as the leader of the parliamentary group of Social Democratic Party of Kosovo in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. He also served as Deputy Mayor of Prishtina as a member of the capital of the Kosovo between 2014 and 2017, being a member of Vetëvendosje at the time. Previously, he has been engaged for four years as president of the management board of the Slovenian-Kosovo Pension with a key role in managing this fund for the whole of Kosovo. Sejdiu was a member of Vetevendosje from 2011 to 2018.
