''Subliminal Plastic Motives'' is the debut studio album from rock band Self, and is perhaps their most well-known release. The album was recorded entirely by Matt and his brother, Mike. The album found some modest success with MTV and flagship radio stations like KROQ-FM. Once the band was solidified, videos were made for "So Low" and "Cannon". The album was released by Spongebath Records and was immediately picked up by Zoo Entertainment (now Volcano Entertainment). Critical reception was very positive, with Mahaffey receiving praise for his cut-and-paste, eclectic take on rock music, and garnering comparisons to artists such as Beck and Beastie Boys. Many of Self's fans hold the album in high regard and most of the songs are now fan favorites. Outlaws (band)
Outlaws are an American southern rock band from Tampa, Florida. They are best known for their 1975 hit " There Goes Another Love Song" and extended guitar jam " Green Grass and High Tides" from their 1975 debut album, plus their 1980 cover of the Stan Jones classic "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky". History Early years (1967–1971) Outlaws were formed in Tampa, Florida, United States, in 1967 by guitarists/vocalists Frank Guidry, Hughie Thomasson, Herbie Pino and Hobie O'Brien. Drummer David Dix and bassist Phil Holmberg joined the band as well. Before Guidry joined the band the group was called The Four Letter Words. He had previously been in a band by the same name. By early 1968, O'Brien and Holmberg both left the band to get married and Frank O'Keefe came in on vocals and bass. Later that year, Tommy Angarano joined Outlaws to replace Pino, bringing Hammond organ sounds and his style of vocals to the band. But after he left, Pino was brought back in. ''To the Center'' is the debut studio album by the American stoner rock band Nebula. It was released on August 24, 1999, on Sub Pop. The album was later reissued in 2018 by the band's current label, Heavy Psych Sounds Records. Production Recorded in Seattle, the album was produced with Jack Endino. Guitar player Eddie Glass employed a Gibson SG. Mark Arm sang on the band's cover of the Stooges' "I Need Somebody". Critical reception ''Exclaim!'' wrote that Glass "transformed himself into a veritable guitar god almost overnight in an era wherein the slightest six-string noodling is waved off the road, considered indulgent."
