So Long Letty (1920 Film)
''So Long Letty'' is a 1920 silent American comedy film directed by Al Christie and starring Grace Darmond, T. Roy Barnes, and Colleen Moore. It was an adaptation of a 1916 popular stage comedy musical of the same name that starred Charlotte Greenwood. Plot Harry Miller (Barnes) is a party boy who loves the cabaret scene and nights on the town while his wife Grace is a homebody, distressed by her husband's errant ways. Their neighbors are the opposite. Tommy Robbins (Walter Hiers) likes domestic life and home cooking while his wife Letty (Darmond) is devoted to the wild life. Harry and Tommy hatch a plan to solve their problems; that they divorce their wives and swap. The wives overhear the plan and go along with the suggestion, though following a plan of their own. They suggest a week-long trial period of platonic marriage, during which the wives do all they can to make their new potential mates miserable. Al Christie
Charles Herbert Christie (April 13, 1882 – October 1, 1955) and Alfred Ernest Christie (November 23, 1886 – April 14, 1951) were Canadian motion picture entrepreneurs. Early life Charles Herbert Christie was born between April 13, 1880, and April 13, 1882. Alfred Ernest Christie was born between October 23, 1881, and November 23, 1886; both were born in London, Ontario. Their father managed the Opera House in the city and their mother was its box-office manager and accountant. Charles graduated from school when he was 14; he graduated from a four-year accountancy course in two years at age 16. Career At 23, Charles was offered a job as the stage manager for Liebler and Company and accepted it on the condition that his brother Al also be given a job. They worked for the organization for three years. Charles joined the film industry after being hired as an accountant for the Nestor Film Company. Charlotte Greenwood
Frances Charlotte Greenwood (June 25, 1890 – December 28, 1977) was an American actress, comedian and dancer. Born in Philadelphia, Greenwood started in vaudeville, and starred on Broadway, movies and radio. Standing almost six feet tall (some sources say 5'10"), she was best known for her long legs and high kicks. She described herself as the "only woman in the world who could kick a giraffe in the eye." Theatre While still a teenager, Charlotte Greenwood made her professional stage debut in 1905 as a dancer in Ludwig Englander's musical ''The White Cat''.
