Smotrych (urban-type Settlement)
Smotrych ( uk, Смотрич; pl, Smotrycz) is an urban-type settlement in Kamianets-Podilskyi Raion (district) of Khmelnytskyi Oblast in western Ukraine. Smotrych hosts the administration of Smotrych settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The town's population was 2,102 as of the 2001 Ukrainian Census and as of 2021. Its Jewish population was murdered en masse during the Holocaust. The settlement was first founded in the first half of the 15th century. It was granted the Magdeburg rights in 1448. In 1960, Smotrych was granted the status of an urban-type settlement. The town lies on the banks of the Smotrych River. Until 18 July 2020, Smotrych belonged to Dunaivtsi Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Khmelnytskyi Oblast to three. Podolia Voivodeship
The Podolian Voivodeship, uk, Подільське воєводство or Palatinate of Podolia was a unit of administrative division and local government in the Kingdom of Poland, since 1434 until 1793, except for the period of Ottoman occupation (1672–1699), when the region was organized as Podolia Eyalet. Together with the Bracław Voivodeship it formed the region of Podolia, which in the Kingdom of Poland was part of Lesser Poland Province. Its capital was in Kamianets-Podilskyi, where local sejmiks took place and where the seat of the starosta was as well. The voivodeship was created 1434, out of former Duchy of Podolia, which had become part of the Kingdom of Poland in the second half of the 14th century. Dunaivtsi ( uk, Дунаївці) is a town (urban-type settlement) in Kamianets-Podilskyi Raion (district), Khmelnytskyi Oblast (province), Ukraine. Dunaivtsi hosts the administration of Novodunaivtsi settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. According to the 2001 census, its population was 2 755 inhabitants. Current population: Until 18 July 2020, Dunaivtsi belonged to Dunaivtsi Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Khmelnytskyi Oblast to three. The area of Dunaivtsi Raion was merged into Kamianets-Podilskyi Raion. A railway station of the Yarmolyntsi—Larga railroad is located in the town. Bezalel Smotrich
Bezalel Yoel Smotrich (, born 27 February 1980) is an Israeli lawyer and far-right politician. The leader of the Religious Zionist Party, he previously served as a Knesset member for Yamina. Biography Bezalel Smotrich was born in Haspin, a religious Israeli settlement in the Golan Heights, and grew up in the Beit El settlement in the West Bank. He has ancestors in the Ukrainian town of Smotrych, whence his name originates. His father was an Orthodox rabbi, and Smotrich received a religious education, attending Mercaz HaRav Kook, Yashlatz, and Yeshivat Kedumim. Dunaivtsi Raion ( uk, Дунаєвецький район) was a raion in Khmelnytskyi Oblast in Ukraine. Its administrative center was Dunaivtsi. It was established in 1923.
