Smash, also known as Smash Japan is a Japanese rock music concert and festival promoter. Smash has its headquarters in Tokyo, with offices in Osaka (Smash West) and London (Smash UK). Smash is regularly represented by its point man, former Boomtown Rats member, Johnnie Fingers. Fuji Rock Festival Smash produces Fuji Rock Festival which takes place the last weekend in July in Naeba, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The festival regularly draws more than 100,000 music fans. Artists appearing regularly include: Björk, Chemical Brothers, Iggy Pop, Sonic Youth and many more. Other music festivals Smash also produces Asagiri Jam which takes place in October in Shizuoka Prefecture. The Chemical Brothers are an English electronic music duo formed by Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands in Manchester in 1992. They were pioneers in bringing the big beat genre to the forefront of pop culture. Originally known as The Dust Brothers, they changed their name due to the existence of Dust Brothers, another band with the same name. Fatboy Slim
Norman Quentin Cook (born Quentin Leo Cook, 31 July 1963), also known as Fatboy Slim, is an English musician and DJ who helped popularise the big beat genre in the 1990s. His music makes extensive use of Sampling (music), samples from eclectic genres, combined with pop structures, processed rhythms and "sloganistic" vocals. In the 1980s, Cook was the bassist for the indie rock band the Housemartins, who achieved a UK number-one single with their cover of "Caravan of Love". After the Housemartins split, Cook moved to Brighton to pursue dance music. Soulwax are a Belgian electronic band and DJ/production collective from Ghent, who formed in 1995. Centred around brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, other current members include Igor and Laima Cavalera, and Stefaan Van Leuven. Sonic Youth were an American rock band formed in New York City in 1981.
