Slick (tool)
A slick is a large chisel, characterized by a wide (2-4 inches, 5–10 cm), heavy blade, and a long, frequently slender, socketed handle. A long, flat metal plate fitted with an offset handle. The combined blade and handle can reach two feet (60 cm) in length. The blade of a slick is slightly curved lengthwise, and/or the handle socket is cranked upward, such that the handle and socket clear the surface of the work when the edge is touching. This distinguishes the slick from the similarly sized, short-handled millwright's chisel. Use A slick is always pushed; never struck (thus the slender handle). Using a combination of the tool's weight and bracing the handle against the shoulder or upper arm, fine paring cuts are made. Slicks are typically used by shipwrights and Timber framing, timber framers. See also * References * External linksHand Tools & Accessories

Slick, Oklahoma
Slick is a town in Creek County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 151 at the 2020 census, a 15.3% increase over the population in 2010. History Slick began as an oil boom town in 1920, and was named for oilman Thomas B. Slick, who drilled a discovery well nearby. A railroad, the Oklahoma-Southwestern Railway, was completed into town the same year. By 1922, the town had an estimated population of 2500-3500. However, production of oil began to decline in the latter part of 1923, and the railroad was abandoned by 1930. So when the town appeared for the first time in the U.S. census in 1930, the population was only 422, a figure which declined until 1950 and has since fluctuated. All of its employed citizens commute to work in Bristow, Sapulpa, and Tulsa. Geography Slick is on the Deep Fork River, and situated southeast of Bristow on SH-16. Slick Tire
A racing slick or slick tyre is a type of tyre that has a smooth tread used mostly in auto racing. The first production slick tyre was developed by M&H Tires in the early 1950s for use in drag racing. By eliminating any grooves cut into the tread, such tyres provide the largest possible contact patch to the road, and maximize dry traction for any given tyre dimension. Slick tyres are used on race tracks and in road racing, where acceleration, steering and braking require maximum traction from each wheel. Slick tyres are typically used on only the driven (powered) wheels in drag racing, where the only concern is maximum traction to put power to the ground, and are not used in rallying. Slick tyres are not suitable for use on common road vehicles, which must be able to operate in all weather conditions. They are used in auto racing where competitors can choose different tyres based on the weather conditions and can often change tyres during a race. Performance Two stress mech ...
