Sleepwalking, also known as somnambulism or noctambulism, is a phenomenon of combined sleep and wakefulness. It is classified as a sleep disorder belonging to the parasomnia family. It occurs during slow wave stage of sleep, in a state of low consciousness, with performance of activities that are usually performed during a state of full consciousness. These activities can be as benign as talking, sitting up in bed, walking to a bathroom, consuming food, and cleaning, or as hazardous as cooking, driving a motor vehicle, violent gestures and grabbing at hallucinated objects.Swanson, Jenifer, ed. ''Sleepwalk'' is a 1986 American fantasy drama film directed by Sara Driver and starring Suzanne Fletcher. It is Driver's directorial debut.page 70 Jim Jarmusch served as one of the two cinematographers of the film. Plot The film opens in an apartment of some kind where a bound mysterious Chinese text, perhaps an ancient Chinese manuscript, hangs in an altar. An unidentified woman opens the altar, removes the first page of the text, rolls it up and leaves with it. Another figure, this time an African American man, enters and does the same thing, again leaving the rest of bound text behind in the shadowy apartment. Nicole, a casually dressed young woman, works as a Chinese language translator at a small production company of some kind with a grumpy middle aged boss who also mans the phones and acts as a receptionist. John Saul (born February 25, 1942) is an American author of suspense and horror novels. Most of his books have appeared on the ''New York Times'' Best Seller List. . Biography Born in Pasadena, Saul grew up in Whittier, California, and graduated from Whittier High School in 1959. "Sleepwalk" is Ultravox's first single from their fourth album, Vienna, and their first with Midge Ure as frontman. It was Ultravox's first UK Top 30 chart hit, hitting number 29 in August 1980. Background "Sleepwalk" was the first song the band recorded with Midge Ure February 1980 at RAK Studios, London. Rather than offering a demo tape of several songs to Chrysalis Records the reformed band opted to do a "finished" version of "Sleepwalk" with producer Conny Plank, a recording that clinched the band's record deal with Chrysalis Records. The original version was later remixed May 1980 at Conny's Studio in Cologne for inclusion on the band's album ''Vienna''. There is no difference between the album version and the single version. ''Catastrophe Ballet'' is the second studio album by American rock band Christian Death. It was released in 1984, through record label Contempo. Besides founder Rozz Williams, the lineup on the album is completely different from the band's debut, ''Only Theatre of Pain'', and is the first record to feature future band leader Valor Kand. This and the follow up record Ashes would be the final releases to feature Williams before his departure in mid 1985. Content Catastrophe Ballet, featured a change in Williams' vocal delivery. While Only Theatre of Pain and the Deathwish EP had Williams presenting a rhythmic spoken word style with an almost androgynous pitch to his voice, Catastrophe Ballet showed a richer, less harsh side to his vocal stylings, with more influence from David Bowie and Lou Reed. Astral (band)
Astral is a shoegaze group based in San Francisco, California, United States. Astral was formed by singer-guitarist Dave Han and drummer Shawn in 1999; bassist Amy Rosenoff joined them in 2001. Their vocals are frequently compared to those of The Cure; other influences include My Bloody Valentine (band), My Bloody Valentine and Joy Division. Their music is of an ethereal, melodic nature; this ambient sound is created largely by heavy use of distortion and audio feedback, feedback effects in Han's guitar. Astral are also notable for incorporating improvisation into their live performances. In 2002, Astral released a self-produced EP, "Only Sometimes". In 2003, Astral released an LP, entitled "Orchids". Two songs from that album, "Raining Down" and the title-track instrumental, were preloaded in the Rio Carbon MP3 Players. Larry Carlton
Larry Eugene Carlton (born March 2, 1948) is an American guitarist who built his career as a studio musician in the 1970s and 1980s for acts such as Steely Dan and Joni Mitchell. He has participated in thousands of recording sessions, recorded on hundreds of albums in many genres, for television and movies, and on more than 100 gold records. He has been a member of the jazz fusion group the Crusaders, the smooth jazz band Fourplay, and has maintained a long solo career. Jamie Quinn, better known by his stage name Matrix, is a British drum and bass producer, DJ, and founder of record label Metro Recordings in London. Musical career 1994-2000: Career beginnings Quinn started his musical career as one half of drum and bass duo Turbosound. The duo was signed to F Project Records, an imprint of Formation Records, operated by DJ SS. As early as 1994, Quinn began to release material as Matrix. Since then, his work has appeared on numerous compilations released by various drum and bass labels.
