Sleep No More (2011 Play)
''Sleep No More'' was the New York City production of an immersive theatre work created by the British theatre company Punchdrunk. It was based primarily on William Shakespeare's ''Macbeth'', with additional inspiration taken from noir films (especially those of Alfred Hitchcock) and the 1697 Paisley witch trials. Its title comes from ''Macbeth'': After incarnations in London in 2003 and Brookline, Massachusetts in 2009, ''Sleep No More'' was launched in New York City in collaboration with Emursive and began performances on March 7, 2011. The production won the 2011 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience and won Punchdrunk special citations at the 2011 Obie Awards for design and choreography. Sleep No More (2009 Play)
''Sleep No More'' is an immersive theatre production created by British theatre company Punchdrunk. Based on Punchdrunk's original 2003 London production, the company reinvented ''Sleep No More'' in a co-production with the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.), which opened at the Old Lincoln School in Brookline, Massachusetts on October 8, 2009. It won Punchdrunk the Elliot Norton Award for Best Theatrical Experience 2010. Overview The production was a new and expanded version of Punchdrunk's 2003 production of the same name which was performed in the Beaufoy Building, London, a disused Victorian school. Unlike a conventional stage play, ''Sleep No More'' is an immersive experience in which audiences are free to explore the world of the performance at will. It combined plot and characters of Shakespeare's ''Macbeth'' with characters, narrative, and aesthetic elements inspired by the films of Hitchcock, in particular ''Rebecca'', an adaptation of the novel of the same name ...

He is best known for his novel ''Fast One'', which is considered to be a landmark of the pulp fiction genre and was called the "high point in the ultra hard-boiled manner" by Raymond Chandler.''Danger Is My Business: An Illustrated History of the Fabulous Pulp Magazines'', by Lee Server (Chronicle Books, 1993) (p.70). Lee Server, author of the ''Encyclopedia of Pulp Fiction Writers'', called ''Fast One'' "a cold-hearted, machine-gun-paced masterwork" and his other writings "gemlike, stoic and merciless vignettes that seemed to come direct from the bootlegging front lines."
