Skënder Anamali
Skënder Anamali (5 May 1921 – 21 April 1996) was an Albanian archaeologist and historian. He was one of the founders of Albanian archaeology. He made significant contributions to the field of Illyrian studies. Biography Skënder Anamali was born and raised in Shkodër. After completing high school in his hometown, Anamali continued his studies at the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy at the University of Padua in Italy, gaining knowledge in the field of antiquity. On returning to Albania after his studies, he began a career as an archaeologist at the Institute of Sciences in Tirana. Together with his colleague Hasan Ceka, he opened the first Archaeological museum in Tirana in 1948. Anamali became known for his excavations in the city of Amantia, Apollonia, Epidamnos (Durrës), and many other places. Illyrology
Illyrology or Illyrian studies is interdisciplinary academic field which focuses on scientific study of Illyria and Illyrians as a regional and thematic branch of the larger disciplines of ancient history and archaeology. A practitioner of the discipline is called ''Illyrologist.'' His duty is to investigate the range of ancient Illyrian history, culture, art, language, heraldry, numizmatic, mythology, economics, ethics, etc. from c. 1000 BC up to the end of Roman rule around the 5th century. Lin, Korçë
Lin ( sq-definite, Lini, ) is a village in the former Udënisht, Udënisht Municipality in Korçë County, Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Pogradec. Geography Lin is situated on a Albanian Ohrid Lake Coast, small peninsula on Lake Ohrid, just south of the Qafë Thanë mountain pass, which is a border-crossing point between Albania and North Macedonia. Pogradec is roughly 22 km to the south of the village, while Struga is about 10 km north, along the lake shore. Radožda is the nearest settlement on the opposite side of the border. Drenica
Drenica (, ), also known as the Drenica Valley, is a hilly region in central Kosovo, covering roughly around of Kosovo's total area (6%). It consists of two municipalities, Drenas and Skenderaj, and several villages in Klina, Zubin Potok, Mitrovica and Vushtrri. It is located west of the capital, Pristina. The Verboc Fortress known by local residents simply as Our Fortress is an Illyrian archaeological site located on a hilltop about 2 kilometers from the village of Verboc in Drenas, Drenas Municipality, Drenica region, Kosovo. Muhamet Pirraku
Muhamet Pirraku (1944–2014), was Albanian historian and publicist from Kosovo. Biography Pirraku was born on October 12, 1944, in Flamuras, Drenas. Pirraku completed his elementary education in Flamuras and Komoran, secondary education in Drenas. He pursued higher education at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Prishtina, specializing in History. Subsequently, he earned his master's degree from the University of Zagreb in 1976. Koman Culture
The Komani-Kruja culture is an archaeological culture attested from late antiquity to the Middle Ages in central and northern Albania, southern Montenegro and similar sites in the western parts of North Macedonia. It consists of settlements usually built below hillforts along the Lezhë (Praevalitana)- Dardania and Via Egnatia road networks which connected the Adriatic coastline with the central Balkan Roman provinces.
