Ski To Sea Race
The Ski to Sea Race (S2S), widely known as the Ski to Sea, is a seven-legged, long, multi-event competition held on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend in Whatcom County. The race starts on the ski slopes of Mount Baker Ski Area, and ends at Marine Park in Fairhaven, on the shore of Bellingham Bay. The seven legs of the race are cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing, downhill skiing or snowboarding, running, road bicycle racing, road biking, canoeing, cyclo-cross biking, and kayaking. The Ski to Sea Race is managed by Whatcom Events, with a race committee that includes a race director, an operations assistant, one or two chairmen to oversee each event, a volunteer coordinator along with nearly 900 volunteers. Memorial Day (originally known as Decoration Day) is a federal holiday in the United States for mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It is observed on the last Monday of May. It is the unofficial beginning of summer in the United States. Everson, Washington
Everson is a city in Whatcom County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,888 at the time of the 2020 census. It is the fifth Largest city within the Bellingham Metropolitan Area. Everson and the nearby city of Nooksack lie near the foothills of the Cascade mountains in Northwest Washington.
