The Singapore River is a river that flows parallel to Alexandra Road and feeds into the Marina Reservoir in the southern part of Singapore. The immediate upper drainage basin, watershed of the Singapore River is known as the Singapore River Planning Area, although the western part of the watershed is classified under the River Valley, Singapore, River Valley planning area. Alexandra Canal, Singapore
Alexandra Canal is a 1.2-kilometer long functional and concrete canal in Singapore which stretches from Tanglin Road to Delta Road and Prince Charles Crescent. The canal has been converted into a recreational destination as a part of the Active, Beautiful and Clean (ABC) Water Programme undertaken by the Public Utilities Board of Singapore. History Alexandra Canal is one of the upper reaches of the Singapore River and Sungei Pandan, becoming the Singapore River after Kim Seng Bridge. Tanglin
Tanglin ( or ) is a planning area located within the Central Region of Singapore. Tanglin is located west of Newton, Orchard, River Valley and Singapore River, south of Novena, east of Bukit Timah, northeast of Queenstown and north of Bukit Merah. Etymology and history The name ''Tanglin'' is said to be derived from '''Tang Leng','' which was the Chinese name of the Scottish lawyer and newspaper editor William Napier's house that was located in the area. ''Tang Leng'' was said to be named after the area's Chinese name in Teochew dialect, Twa Tang Leng','' which translates to 'great east hill peaks' in reference to the hills surrounding the area. The Central Area, also called the City Area, and informally The City, is the main commercial and financial city centre of Singapore. Marina Reservoir
The Marina Reservoir is a reservoir in Singapore formed in 2008 by building a dam across the mouth of the Marina Channel. With the completion of the Marina Barrage on 30 October 2008, the reservoir, which contained mainly salt water, became freshwater and started operations at 7 pm on 20 November 2010 after a process of natural desalination, when excess water was released out to the sea after heavy rains. The reservoir will provide 10% of the island's water needs. The catchment area that feeds the reservoir is about one-sixth the land size of Singapore, making it the largest of all the Singaporean reservoirs.
