''Since We've Become Translucent'' is the sixth studio album by American rock band Mudhoney, released in 2002. The album was the first to be recorded after the departure of their original bassist Matt Lukin, three years earlier. It was also the first to be released through Sub Pop after the band returned to the label. ''Since We've Become Translucent'' marked a prominent change in the band's sound. The album departed from their typical grunge sound and features a relatively accessible rock sound. However, on tracks such as "Baby, Can You Dig the Light?", psychedelica, synthpop, and jazz are explored. The bulk of the album was recorded over three weekends with three different producers – Johnny Sangster, Martin Feveyear and Scott Colburn – between November 2001 and February 2002. The band focused on three songs at a time, which they rehearsed and recorded before moving on to the next songs. Mudhoney Albums
Mudhoney is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, on January 1, 1988, following the demise of Green River. Its members are singer and rhythm guitarist Mark Arm, lead guitarist Steve Turner, bassist Guy Maddison and drummer Dan Peters. Original bassist Matt Lukin left the band in 1999, but rejoined the band in December 2000 for a tour that lasted through January 2001. Mudhoney's early releases on the Sub Pop label, particularly their debut single " Touch Me I'm Sick" and the '' Superfuzz Bigmuff'' EP, were instrumental in the creation of the grunge genre. Dan Peters
Daniel Joe Peters (born August 18, 1967) is the drummer for Mudhoney, having played with them since their formation in 1988. Prior to Mudhoney, he joined Bundle of Hiss when he was fifteen years old. He was also briefly the drummer for Nirvana in the summer of 1990, playing on one single, " Sliver", and making one live appearance with them that September in Seattle, shortly before drummer Dave Grohl joined. Peters has expressed his only regret as missing the chance to play drums on Nirvana's album ''Nevermind''. Mudhoney's latest offering is '' Plastic Eternity'' released on April 7, 2023. Steve Turner (guitarist)
Steven Neil Turner (born March 28, 1965) is an American guitarist known for his work with Green River and Mudhoney. Early life Turner was born in 1965 in Houston, Texas, but moved with his family to Seattle when he was two. Career His first band was called The Ducky Boys. The lineup included future Pearl Jam member Stone Gossard. The Ducky Boys split around 1983. Turner later joined Mark Arm in Mr. Epp and the Calculations, which Arm described as "The worst band in the world". Mr. Epp played their final show with Turner in 1984. Mark Arm (born Mark Thomas McLaughlin; February 21, 1962) is an American singer and songwriter, best known as the vocalist for the grunge band Mudhoney. His former group, Green River, was one of the first grunge bands, along with Malfunkshun, Soundgarden, Skin Yard, the U-Men, and others. He is also the manager of the Sub Pop warehouse and previously worked at Fantagraphics Books. From 1986 to 1989 he worked as a member of noise rock group Lubricated Goat and appeared on their album ''Paddock of Love''. Wayne Kramer (guitarist)
Wayne Stanley Kramer (''né'' Kambes; April 30, 1948 – February 2, 2024) was an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, and film and television composer. Kramer came to prominence in the 1960s as the lead guitarist of the Detroit rock band MC5. Kramer and guitarist Fred "Sonic" Smith co-founded the MC5 in 1963, with vocalist Rob Tyner, bassist Michael Davis, and drummer Dennis Thompson joining shortly after. The MC5 became known for their powerful live performances and radical left-wing political stance. The group broke up amid government harassment, poverty, and drug abuse.
