Simon Rodriguez De Evora
Simon Rodriguez de Evora, 1st Baron of ( Antwerp, 1560-25 May 1618) was a Flemish nobleman. family He is the son of Emmanuel (or ''Manuel'') Rodriguez de Evora and Catharina Lopez de Elva. He founded in 1601 Sint-Annagodshuis, in the bargiestraete in Antwerp. The next year he bought the Heerlijkheid of Rode. He is depicted in the ''De Aanbidding der Herders'', painted in 1601 by Otto Venius. This triptiek currently is in the Collection of het Maagdenhuis Museum, Antwerp. In 1617 he was created Baron. He married Anna Ximenes of Aragon. His descendants form one of the major noble houses of Belgium. They are buried in the Church of the Minderbroederklooster in Antwerp. Otto Venius
Otto van Veen, also known by his Latinized name Otto Venius or Octavius Vaenius (1556 – 6 May 1629), was a painter, draughtsman, and humanist active primarily in Antwerp and Brussels in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. He is known for running a large studio in Antwerp, producing several emblem books, and for being, from 1594 or 1595 until 1598, Peter Paul Rubens' teacher. His role as a classically educated humanist artist (a ''pictor doctus''), reflected in the Latin name by which he is often known, Octavius Vaenius, was influential on the young Rubens, who would take on that role himself. Maagdenhuis Museum
The Maagdenhuis Museum (''Maidens' House Museum'') is an art museum and historical museum located in a 17th-century historic building on ''Lange Gasthuisstraat'', Antwerp, Belgium. The building was used as an orphanage for the ''maegdeckens'', or maidens, from the mid-16th century to the end of the 19th century. The museum presents a collection of utensils used daily by the foundlings and the orphans; a collection of antique furniture, and a series of documents relating to the orphanage and the life in it from the 16th century to 19th century. Although one of the smallest museums in Antwerp, the ''Maagdenhuis'' houses a valuable and rich collection of paintings and sculptures.
