The Silver Medallion is an award given by the Telluride Film Festival in recognition of achievements in the film industry. History of the Silver Medallion The first Silver Medallions were awarded in 1974 at the 1st Telluride Film Festival. They are made of pure silver and the design has never changed, featuring the emblematic "SHOW" logo on their face. The presentation of the medallion is preceded by a clip reel, full feature and/or on stage interview. The ''Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence'' is an award for operational excellence given to organizations worldwide by the Shingo Institute, part of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. In order to be selected as a recipient of the Shingo Prize, an organization "challenges" or applies for the award by first submitting an achievement report that provides data about recent business improvements and accomplishments and then undergoing an onsite audit performed by Shingo Institute examiners. Silver Medallion (foaled May 1st, 2008) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2011 Tropical Turf Handicap. Career Silver Medallion's first race was on August 4, 2010, at Saratoga, where he came in first. He picked up his next win on December 31, 2010, by winning the Eddie Logan Stakes. Silver Medallion started off the 2011 year with a February 12th, 2011 victory at the El Camino Real Derby. In April, he competed in the 2011 Santa Anita Derby, but placed in 4th. It took him 3 more races before he picked up another win at his last race of the year - the 2011 Tropical Turf Handicap in December. Silver Medallion followed his victory up win a win the following month at the 2012 Fort Lauderdale Stakes. Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes
The Coolmore Turf Mile Stakes is a Grade I American thoroughbred horse race for three year olds and older over a distance of one mile on the turf held annually in October at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky during the fall meeting. History The inaugural running of the event was on 11 October 1986 as the Keeneland Breeders' Cup Stakes at a distance of miles with added purse incentive for horses that were entered to the Breeders' Cup. The event was won by the 21-1 Ohio bred longshot Leprechauns Wish in a time of 1:51. The added purses from the Breeders' Cup high quality participants and the race was classified as Grade III in 1988. The winner of the fourth running in 1989, the British bred Steinlen in his next start won the Breeders' Cup Mile at Gulfstream Park. In 1994 the distance of the event was decreased to one mile.
