''Silk Degrees'' is the seventh studio album by American musician Boz Scaggs, released on February 18, 1976, by Columbia Records. The album peaked at No. 2 and spent 115 weeks on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200. It has been certified five times platinum album, platinum by the RIAA, Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and remains Scaggs's best selling album. ''Silk Degrees'' spawned four singles. "It's Over" (No. 38), "Lowdown (Boz Scaggs song), Lowdown" (No. 3) and "Lido Shuffle" (No. 11) made the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100, while "What Can I Say" peaked at No. 42. Boz Scaggs
William Royce "Boz" Scaggs (born June 8, 1944) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was a bandmate of Steve Miller (musician), Steve Miller in the Ardells in the early 1960s and a member of the Steve Miller Band from 1967 to 1968. Scaggs began his solo career in 1969, though he lacked a major hit until his 1976 album, ''Silk Degrees'', peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 and produced the hit singles "Lido Shuffle" and "Lowdown (Boz Scaggs song), Lowdown". The ''Billboard'' Hot 100, also known as simply the Hot 100, is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), online streaming, and radio airplay in the U.S. A new chart is compiled and released online to the public by ''Billboard''s website on Tuesdays but post-dated to the following Saturday, when the printed magazine first reaches newsstands. Ticknor And Fields
Ticknor and Fields was an American publishing company based in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded as a bookstore in 1832, the business published many 19th-century American authors, including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry James, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Henry David Thoreau, and Mark Twain. Avalon, California
Avalon is the only incorporated city on Santa Catalina Island, in the California Channel Islands, and the southernmost city in Los Angeles County. The city is a resort community with the waterfront dominated by tourism-oriented businesses. The older parts of the town on the valley floor consist primarily of small houses and two and three-story buildings in various traditional architectural styles. "We're All Alone" is a song written by Boz Scaggs, which became a hit for Frankie Valli in 1976. The next year it was a top-ten hit for Rita Coolidge in the US and the UK. Scaggs introduced it on his 1976 album ''Silk Degrees'', and included it as the B-side of two of the four single releases from that LP, including " Lido Shuffle". Boz Scaggs version Scaggs' own version of "We're All Alone" was the standard B-side of his international single release " Lido Shuffle" including its release in the US and UK where "Lido Shuffle" respectively charted at number 11 and number 13. Little Feat is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Lowell George, bassist Roy Estrada (both formerly of the Mothers of Invention), keyboardist Bill Payne, and drummer Richie Hayward in 1969. Fred Tackett
Fredrick O. Tackett (born August 30, 1945) is an American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Originally a session player on guitar, mandolin, and trumpet, he is best known as a member of the band Little Feat. In addition to his work with Little Feat, Tackett has played and recorded with many notable artists, Bob Dylan and Jimmy Webb among them. He had an additional side project with another member of Little Feat; he performed as part of a duo with Paul Barrere, as Paul and Fred. Association with Little Feat Tackett's association with Little Feat goes back to a friendship with the founder of the band, Lowell George, at the time of its inception.
