Sigrun Svenningsen
Sigrun Svenningsen (June 23, 1902 – February 24, 1971) was a Norwegians, Norwegian actress. Svenningsen was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), the daughter of the traveling salesman Sigurd Svenningsen (1875–1901) and Karen Beate Hoff (1869–?). She had a successful stage career, including as the lead actress at the Chat Noir cabaret in the 1920s. She also performed the lead role in the successful revue ''Ikke mas, alle får'' (Don't Worry, Everyone Will Get Some) in 1925 and 1926. Svenningsen appeared in only two silent films. She debuted in 1924 in Harry Ivarson ''Til sæters'', in which she played a major role as Sigrid. In 1927 Svenningsen appeared in Ivarson's ''Den glade enke i Trangvik''. Svenningsen was married to the actor Per Kvist. Per Kvist was the artist name of Vidar Wexelsen (4 April 1890 – 23 May 1947), a Norwegian revue writer, entertainer, stage actor, film actor and children's writer. Personal life Wexelsen was born in Overhalla as a son of vicar, politician and eventually bishop Vilhelm Andreas Wexelsen and Anna Beata Nilssen. He was a cousin of Gunnar Jahn and uncle of Karl Evang. He spent long periods of his childhood in Kristiania, when his father was a member of the Storting and of the government. From 1905 to his death in 1909 his father was appointed bishop of the Diocese of Nidaros in Trondheim. Out of consideration for his well-regarded family he adopted the nom de guerre Per Kvist. Chat Noir
Chat Noir ( French for 'black cat') is a cabaret and revue theatre in Oslo, Norway. It was established in 1912 by Bokken Lasson. The current director is Tom Sterri. Establishment Chat Noir was established as a cabaret in 1912 by singer Bokken Lasson and her later husband, writer Vilhelm Dybwad, modelled after the Paris cabaret Le Chat Noir from the 19th century. During a visit to Paris in the early 1890s Bokken Lasson had found the inspiration of her life. She experienced the literary cabarets of the time, and performers such as Yvette Guilbert. The next years she toured European cities, wearing a self-composed costume, singing gypsy songs and playing lute, performing on the street, at restaurants, cabarets and occasionally in musical comedies. Harry Ivarson
Harry Ivarson (September 7, 1892 – 1967) was a Norwegian film director and screenwriter. Ivarson was born in Chicago, the son of the actor William Ivarson and actress Anna Ivarson. In addition to Harry, the couple had a son Wictor (born in 1893) and a daughter Borghild (born in 1895). In 1910 the family lived in Årstad. Ivarson studied film in the United States and Germany. He debuted as a director and screenwriter in Germany in 1923 with the film ''Wenn Männer richten'' under the pseudonym Harry Williams. ''Til sæters'' (To the Mountain Pastures) is a Norwegian silent comedy film from 1924 directed by Harry Ivarson (his first Norwegian film). He also wrote the screenplay based on Claus Pavels Riis's 1850 musical ''Til Sæters: dramatisk Idyl med Sange'' (To the Mountain Pastures: A Dramatic Idyll with Singing). The plot of the musical was very thin and mostly served as an excuse to link together various dance performances accompanied by well-known Norwegian folk melodies. Ivarson therefore added more people to the story and a little more intrigue, but retained the basic mood of the musical.
