Sicilì
Sicilì is a southern Italian village and hamlet (''frazione'') of Morigerati, a municipality in the province of Salerno, Campania. As of 2011, it had a population of 364. History The village was first mentioned in 1521, however, the origins of the village are unknown. It was named after Sicily, in honor of a Sicilian farmer who used the surrounding rural areas for pastoralism as well as the Sicilians who would settle the area soon after. According to local tradition, The farmer, who supposedly owned many animals, brought them to the site that would become the village and left them there. From Scario, he sailed back to Sicily and upon arrival, was advised to send many Sicilian families to take care of the animals. The locals are believed to be descended from these Sicilian settlers. Sicily Island is a village in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 336 at the 2020 census. Geography Sicily Island is located in northeastern Catahoula Parish at (31.846573, -91.658925). The Strait of Messina Bridge is a long-planned suspension bridge across the Strait of Messina, that connects the cities of Messina’s Torre Faro and the port city of Villa San Giovanni in Calabria. While the bridge has been proposed since ancient times, a detailed plan was made in the 1990s for a suspension bridge. The project was cancelled in 2006, under Prime Minister Romano Prodi. However, on 6 March 2009, as part of a massive new public works programme, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's government announced that construction of the Messina Bridge would indeed go ahead, pledging €1.3 billion as a contribution to the bridge's total cost, estimated at €6.1 billion. The project was cancelled again on 26 February 2013, by Prime Minister Mario Monti's government due to budget constraints.
