Shuddhi (Hinduism)
Shuddhi (Sanskrit: शुद्धि ''śuddhi'', Hindi: शुद्धि ''śuddhi'', Punjabi: ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ''śuddh'') is a Sanskrit word meaning purification or cleansing. In the context of modern Hinduism, it describes a Hindu religious movement started by Arya Samaj, initially aimed at re-converting former Hindus who departed the religion for Christianity or Islam, but later expanded to convert non-Hindus altogether. This term is also present in some medieval smritis, as well as in later Sikh literature, also in the context of re-conversion. Etymology Shuddhi is derived from the Sanskrit word शुद्धि ''śuddhi'' ("purified"), the past passive participle of the verb शुध् ''śudh'' ("to purify"). This word ultimately derives from Proto-Indo-European *(s)ḱew- ("to shine"). Purity In Buddhism
Purity (Pali: ''Vissudhi'') is an important concept within much of Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism, although the implications of the resultant moral purification may be viewed differently in the varying traditions. The aim is to purify the personality of the Buddhist practitioner so that all moral and character defilements and defects ('' kleśas'' such as anger, ignorance and lust) are wiped away and nirvana can be obtained. Theravada Theravada Buddhism regards the path of self-purification as absolutely vital for reaching Nibbana. Karan Ravi Malhotra is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Hindi films. He is best known for directing '' Agneepath'' (2012). Career Karan Malhotra worked as an assistant director for films such as ''Main Hoon Na'' (2004), ''Lakshya'' (2004), ''Jodhaa Akbar'' (2008), and ''My Name Is Khan'' (2010). He made his directorial debut with ''Agneepath'' (2012), a remake of the 1990 film of the same name. Unrealized projects Malhotra and his wife Ekta Pathak Malhotra began working on the screenplay for ''Shuddhi'', which was scheduled for a Diwali 2016 release and was produced by Dharma Productions. While working on the script, they both made several research-based trips to Hrishikesh, one of the planned shooting locations for the film. ''Shuddhi'' is a 2017 Indian Kannada-language crime drama film written and directed by Adarsh Eshwarappa. The film mainly stars Nivedhitha, Lauren Spartano and Amrutha Karagada in the lead roles. It also stars Shashank Purushotham and Sidhaartha Maadhyamika in supporting roles. Whilst the cinematography is by Andrew Aiello, the film score was composed by Jesse Clinton. The major portion of the film has been shot using handheld technique which is a rarity in Indian cinema.
