''Shot Through the Heart'' is the fifth album by American singer/songwriter Jennifer Warnes, released on Arista Records in 1979. It peaked at #13 on the Billboard Country albums chart and #94 on the main Billboard albums chart. The premier single from the album: "I Know a Heartache When I See One", peaked at #19 on the ''Billboard'' singles chart Whitburn, Joel (2000). ''The Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits, 7th Edition'', p. 667. Billboard Books, New York. and reached #10 on the Hot Country Songs (C&W) listing, becoming Arista Records' lone C&W Top Ten hit prior to 1990. Jennifer Warnes
Jennifer Jean Warnes (born March 3, 1947) is an American singer and songwriter. She has performed as a vocalist on a number of film soundtracks. She has won two Grammy Awards, in 1983 for the Joe Cocker duet " Up Where We Belong" and in 1987 for the Bill Medley duet " (I've Had) The Time of My Life". Warnes also collaborated closely with Leonard Cohen. Early life Warnes was born on March 3, 1947, in Seattle, Washington but raised in Anaheim, California. Her desire and ability to sing came early; at age seven she was offered her first recording contract, which her father declined. She sang in church and local pageants until age 17 when Warnes was offered an opera scholarship to Immaculate Heart College. She was so committed to her Catholic faith, that for a while she entered a convent after graduating from high school. Rory Michael Bourke (born July 14, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio is an American country music songwriter and music publisher. Bourke moved to Nashville in 1964 and worked for a period in the promotional department of Mercury Records. His songwriting career took off in the early 1970s and he soon racked up tracks recorded by Charlie Rich, Elvis Presley, Lynn Anderson, Billy Crash Craddock, Olivia Newton-John, and many others. "Hard Times Come Again No More" (sometimes, "Hard Times") is an American parlor song written by Stephen Foster. It was published in New York by Firth, Pond & Co. in 1854 as Foster's Melodies No. 28. Well-known and popular in its day, both in America and Europe, the song asks the fortunate to consider the plight of the less fortunate and includes one of Foster's favorite images: "a pale drooping maiden". James Ridout "Jesse" Winchester Jr. (May 17, 1944 – April 11, 2014) was an American-Canadian musician and songwriter. He was born and raised in the southern United States. He was best known for his collaborations with composer Burt Bacharach and his association with Dionne Warwick.
