Shoebox Full Of Secrets
''Shoebox Full of Secrets'' is the debut studio album by English singer-songwriter Andy Pawlak, which was released by Fontana in 1989. Background After performing across Britain's live circuit as a solo act, Pawlak signed to Phonogram's Fontana Records in 1988. He began recording his debut album ''Shoebox Full of Secrets'' that year, with Craig Leon as producer, and primarily backed by Graham Henderson on keyboards, Graham Edwards on bass and Paul Hudson on drums. Pawlak's debut single "Mermaids" was released by on 10 October 1988 and was followed by "Secrets" in January 1989. ''Shoebox Full of Secrets'' was released on 6 March 1989, and a third and final single, "She Kept a Hold of Love (Mother's Day)", was released on 30 May 1989. The singles and album gained positive critical reception in the UK music press, but failed to achieve commercial success. "Secrets" peaked at number 141 in Australia's ARIA Chart in June 1989. Aztec Camera were a Scottish pop/ new wave band founded by Roddy Frame, the group's singer, songwriter, and only consistent member. Derek Ridgers (born 20 October 1950) is a British photographer known for his photography of music, film and club/street culture. Joseph McKenzie
Joseph McKenzie (19 March 1929 – 5 July 2015) was a Scottish photographer known as the "father of modern Scottish photography". He is known for his black and white images of post-war Scottish lives amid urban decay and redevelopment. McKenzie was born in London in 1929. During the Second World War and afterwards until 1952, McKenzie served as a photographer in the Royal Air Force. Then from 1952 until 1954, he studied photography at the London College of Printing. He initially taught photography at Saint Martin's School of Art, and was later appointed as lecturer in photography at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee where he worked until his retirement in 1986. Jimmy Helms
James D. Helms (born September 27, 1941) is an American soul singer, known as a member of Londonbeat but who also had solo hits such as "Gonna Make You an Offer You Can't Refuse". Early years James D. Helms was born in Florida, United States. His grandfather was a Black Seminole and a preacher. Helms discovered music when his aunt gave the family a radio, and went on to play trumpet in the school band. After high school he moved to Columbus, Ohio. He released his first single, “Daddy! Daddy!” on Forest Records in 1962. He played with the Carl Sally band and moved to Boston, where he worked as a session guitarist. He joined the US Army and played trumpet in the Fort Jackson Army Band. After 1970, Helms began to spend more time pursuing a music career in the UK. Guy Jeffrey Barker, (born 26 December 1957) is an English jazz trumpeter and composer. Early life Barker was born in Chiswick, London, the son of an actress and a stuntman. He started playing the trumpet at the age of twelve, and within a year had joined the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. At the age of 15 he was playing with the Crouch End Allstars along with Wally Fawkes and Bob Nadkarni. Haircut One Hundred (also Haircut 100) were a British new wave group formed in 1980 in Beckenham, London by Nick Heyward, Les Nemes and Graham Jones. In 1981 and 1982, the band scored four UK top 10 hit singles: " Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)", " Love Plus One", " Nobody's Fool", and " Fantastic Day". History Formation and ''Pelican West'' Nick Heyward and Les Nemes had been in several bands together since 1977. They gigged under the names Rugby, Boat Party, and Captain Pennyworth, but did not release any music.
