Shivaji Nagar Metro Station (Pune)
Shivajinagar is an underground metro station on the North-South corridor of the Purple Line of Pune Metro in Pune, India. The station was opened on 1 August 2023 as an extension of Pune Metro Phase I. Since then, this line was operational between PCMC and Civil Court. On 29 September 2024, the launch of Pune Metro Phase I was completed and the Purple Line was fully operational from PCMC to Swargate. This station will serve as an interchange for Line 3 of Pune Metro which will operate from Civil Court to Megapolis Circle. The station contains 5 lifts, 12 escalators and a tunnel ventilation system. Its exterior is inspired by a fort from the era of Shivaji Maharaj, whereas the interior features elements from the Peshwa era. Shivajinagar, Pune
Shivajinagar (also known as Bhambwade, Bhamburde) is an inner suburb of the city of Pune, India. History Shivajinagar has a very long history, with the 8th-century, Rashtrakuta-era Pataleshwar cave temple being the oldest manmade structure in History of Pune, Pune. The neighbourhood was earlier a village known as Bhambwade, with the name changing over time to Bhamburde. During the Maratha Empire, Maratha and British Raj, British periods, Bhamburde's Patil (title), Patil (Village chief) came from the Shirole Patil family, members of which also served in the Maratha Army. In the Peshwa era, a handmade paper factory was located in the village. Later, in the 19th century, Jangali Maharaj, a Sufi saint revered mainly by Hindus, settled down here. Peshwa
The Peshwa was the second highest office in the Maratha Empire, next in rank and prestige only to that of the Chhatrapati. Initially serving as the appointed prime minister in the Maratha Kingdom, the office became hereditary when Shahu gave the seat of Peshwa to Bajirao I, Bajirao Ballal. During the reign of Shahu, the office of Peshwa grew in power and the Peshwas came to be the ''de facto'' rulers of the Maratha Confederacy. Eventually, the Chhatrapati title became titular and the main heads were the Peshwas according to the Sangola pact. All Peshwas during the rule of Shivaji, Sambhaji and Rajaram I, Rajaram belonged to Marathi people, Marathi Deshastha Brahmin community. Civil Court Metro Station
District Court Pune (formerly known as "Civil Court Metro Station") is a metro station that facilitates cross-platform interchange between the Aqua Line and the Purple Line in Pune, India. The station was opened on 1 August 2023 as an extension of Pune Metro Phase I. This station will also serve as a future interchange for Line 3 of the Pune Metro. The platform on the Purple Line is one of the deepest in India at a depth of 33 m (108 ft.). The architectural design of the station's roof permits natural sunlight to penetrate directly to the underground platforms. Shivaji
Shivaji I (Shivaji Shahaji Bhonsale, ; 19 February 1630 – 3 April 1680) was an Indian ruler and a member of the Bhonsle dynasty. Shivaji carved out his own independent kingdom from the Sultanate of Bijapur that formed the genesis of the Maratha Empire.
