The Shire of Carnamah is a local government area located in the Mid West region of Western Australia, about north of Perth, the state capital, and about south of the city of Geraldton. The Shire covers an area of and its seat of government is the town of Carnamah. History The Carnamah Road District was formed out of land previously managed by the Irwin and Mingenew Road Boards on 24 August 1923. On 1 July 1961, it became a Shire under the ''Local Government Act 1960''. On 19 April 1962, it lost three-fifths of its area when the Shire of Coorow was created. The Shire of Carnamah has seven elected Councillors. Councillors are elected by residents of the Shire and represent the whole Shire. The Mid West region is one of the nine regions of Western Australia. It is a sparsely populated region extending from the west coast of Western Australia, about north and south of its administrative centre of Geraldton and inland to east of Wiluna in the Gibson Desert. The State Register of Heritage Places is the heritage register of historic sites in Western Australia deemed significant at the state level by the Heritage Council of Western Australia. Eneabba, Western Australia
Eneabba is a town on the Brand Highway north of Perth, Western Australia. The area is famous for its spectacular display of wildflowers in the spring. It is also home to the Iluka Resources mineral sands facility. The first European visit to the area was in 1839 by the second disastrous George Grey expedition along the west coast. Grey and his party were forced to walk through the area after their boats were lost. On 11 April, Grey discovered and named the Arrowsmith River, after John Arrowsmith the English cartographer. The Shire of Mingenew is a local government area in the Mid West region of Western Australia, about southeast of the city of Geraldton and about north of the state capital, Perth. The Shire covers an area of , and its seat of government is the town of Mingenew. History The Shire of Mingenew was initially constituted as the Upper Irwin Road District on 25 October 1901, over a much larger area. On 12 December 1919, it was renamed the Mingenew Road District. Between 1923 and 1928, it lost 80% of its land area to the neighboring Perenjori-Morawa Road District and the new districts of Carnamah and Three Springs.
