Sherwood Forest is the remnants of an ancient royal forest, Royal Forest in Nottinghamshire, within the East Midlands region in England. It has association with the legend of Robin Hood. The forest was proclaimed by William the Conqueror and mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086. Sherwood Forest Plantation is located on the north bank of the James River in Charles City County, Virginia. The main plantation house, built in 1730, was the home of the tenth president of the United States, John Tyler (1790–1862) for the last twenty years of his life. It is located on State Route 5, a scenic byway which runs between the independent cities of Richmond and Williamsburg. The house is located approximately from the river. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1961. Sherwood Forest Faire
Sherwood Forest Faire is an annual Renaissance fair in McDade, Texas. History Sherwood Forest Faire, LLC was established in 2008 by George Appling and Eric Todd. The first annual festival took place in 2010 and was set in the year 1189; each subsequent year of the festival is set one year later. The 2020 festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and fair performers created virtual content to entertain would-be visitors. The festival returned in 2021 but was delayed by one month, taking place during April and May. Features As of 2024, the event features 170 artisans and 150 daily live shows, including a falconry demonstration, improv troupes, belly dancers, and musicians. Many of the Sherwood Forest Faire's shows and attractions are inspired by Robin Hood. Sherwood Forest Bridge
The Sherwood Forest Bridge spans Wascana Creek in the Rural Municipality of Sherwood, 8 kilometres north of Grand Coulee, Saskatchewan, Canada. The bridge also goes by the name Hungry Hollow Bridge. The bridge is located near the Sherwood Forest Country Club. The bridge is one of the few earth filled reinforced concrete bridges still in use within the province and is therefore considered to have historical significance. In the autumn of 2016, a replacement bridge was constructed adjacent to the Sherwood Forest bridge to carry traffic on Range Road 2212. As of February 2017, the historic bridge was still in use. Robin Hood is a legendary noble outlaw, heroic outlaw originally depicted in English folklore and subsequently featured in literature, theatre, and cinema. According to legend, he was a highly skilled archer and swordsman.
