The Lion Of Punjab
Lala Lajpat Rai (28 January 1865 — 17 November 1928) was an Indian revolutionary, politician, and author, popularly known as ''Punjab Kesari (Lion of Punjab).'' He was one of the three members of the Lal Bal Pal trio. He died of severe trauma injuries sustained in October 1928 during a baton charge by police in Lahore, when he led a peaceful protest march against the all-British Simon Commission. Early life Lajpat Rai was born on 28 January 1865 into an Agrawal Jain family as the eldest son of six children of Munshi Radha Krishna, an Urdu and Persian government school teacher and Gulab Devi Aggarwal at Dhudike in the Faridkot district of the Punjab Province of British India (now in Moga district, Punjab, India). He spent much of his youth in Jagraon. His house still stands in Jagraon and houses a library and museum. He also built the first educational institute R.K. High school in Jagraon. The Lion Of Punjab (film)
''Lion of Punjab'' is an Indian Punjabi action film starring Diljit Dosanjh, making his debut as a lead actor. It is also the debut Punjabi movie of Bollywood director Guddu Dhanoa. It is a remake of 2003 Tamil film ''Dhool''. The Punjabi remake of this film was released on 11 February 2011. with a music release on 31 January 2011. The plot revolves around the lead character, Avtar Singh, who leads a fight against a powerful politician. The battle is as a result of the politicians factory polluting the water of a local village, which leads to a rise in cancer cases for the inhabitants of the village. Ranjit Singh
Ranjit Singh (13 November 1780 – 27 June 1839) was the founder and first maharaja of the Sikh Empire, in the northwest Indian subcontinent, ruling from 1801 until his death in 1839. Born to Maha Singh, the leader of the Sukerchakia Misl, Ranjit Singh survived smallpox in infancy but lost sight in his left eye. At the age of ten years old, he fought his first battle alongside his father. After his father died around Ranjit's early teenage years, he became leader of the Misl. Ranjit was the most prominent of the Sikh leaders who opposed Zaman Shah, the ruler of Durrani Empire, during his third invasion. After Zaman Shah's retreat in 1799, he captured Lahore from the Sikh triumvirate which had been ruling it since 1765. At the age of 21, he was formally crowned at Lahore. Sher-e-Punjab (field Hockey Team)
Sher-e-Punjab (abbreviated as SP) () was an Indian professional field hockey team named after Sher-e-Punjab and based in Jalandhar, Punjab that played in World Series Hockey. The team was led by Indian forward Prabhjot Singh and coached by former Indian coach Rajinder Singh. Surjeet Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar served as the home ground of Sher-e-Punjab. Sher-e-Punjab became the champions of the inaugural edition of WSH by defeating Pune Strykers 5–2 in the final. Deepak Thakur has scored most goals for the team. History 2012 season Sher-e-Punjab begun their campaign with a 5–2 victory over Chennai Cheetahs at home.
