Shell Beach, Pismo Beach
Pismo Beach (Chumash: ''Pismuʔ'') is a city in the southern portion of San Luis Obispo County, in the Central Coast area of California, United States. Its estimated population was 8,072 at the 2020 census, up from 7,655 in the 2010 census. The Pismo clam was named for the long, wide beach where they were once found in abundance. History The Chumash people are the historic inhabitants of the region, with indigenous peoples having lived along the California coast for at least 11,000 years. The name Pismo comes from the Chumash language word for tar, ''pismuʔ'', which was gathered from tar springs in Price Canyon near Pismo Beach. The tar was a valuable product, which the Chumash used to caulk their seagoing canoes, called ''tomol'', which traveled along the coast and out to the Channel Islands. The first European land exploration of Alta California, the Spanish Portolá expedition, passed through the area, traveling up Price Canyon from Pismo Beach, where they camped on Sep ...

Shell Beach, La Jolla
Shell Beach is a small beach in La Jolla, a community of San Diego, California, United States. It is accessed via a flight of concrete steps that start at the south end of Ellen Browning Scripps Park. The beach is located immediately north of Children's Pool Beach, south of Boomer Beach and La Jolla Cove. During extreme low tides, the southern end of Shell Beach has an interesting tidepool-like area, with many marine creatures visible. Because of the presence of reef structures and rip currents that can be hazardous to scuba divers, the San Diego Council of Divers provides a "Rocks, Rips and Reefs" tour for the area. Visible to the south a short distance out from Shell Beach is Seal Rock, which often has several harbor seals resting on it. There is the presence of sea glass on the beach. Shell Beach (Western Australia)
Shell Beach is a beach in the Shark Bay region of Western Australia, located south-east of Denham. Situated on the northeastern side of the Taillefer Isthmus along the L'Haridon Bight, the beach is covered with shells for a stretch to a depth of . It is one of only two beaches in the world made entirely from shells. The beach was named Shell Beach because of the great abundance of the shells of the cockle species ''Fragum erugatum''. The seawater in the L'Haridon Bight has a high salinity due to both the geomorphology and local climate of the area. This high salinity has allowed the cockle to proliferate unchecked, since its natural predators have not adapted well to this environment. The shells have formed a limestone that is known as coquina. Before Shark Bay became a World Heritage Site, the coquina was mined and used for the construction of a number of buildings in Denham.
