Arben Shehu
Arben Shehu (born 1967) is a former Albanian football striker who played for Luftëtari Gjirokastër, Teuta Durres and Bylis Ballsh. Club career He was the top goalscorer in the Albanian Superliga for the 1994–1995 season with 21 goals in 28 games for newly promoted Shqiponja Gjirokastër, after topping the Albanian First Division's goalscoring charts a season earlier. Personal life Shehu works as a sports inspector in Memaliaj Municipality and is technical director at local club KF Memaliaj KF Memaliaj is an Albanian football club based in the small town of Memaliaj. Bashkim Shehu
Bashkim Shehu (born 22 June 1955, Tirana) is an Albanian writer who lives in Barcelona, Spain. Biography From 1975 to 1980, he studied Liberal Arts at the University of Tirana. Until 1981, he worked as a screenwriter at Kinostudio Shqipëria e Re. At that time his father, Mehmet Shehu, was Albania's Prime Minister and a leading candidate to replace Enver Hoxha. This connection allowed him access to literary works that were banned by the Communist regime. His exposure to those works prompted his decision to become a writer. His first work appeared in 1977 and, until 1981, he worked as a screenwriter at Kinostudio Shqipëria e Re. That year, Hoxha accused his father of being a foreign agent. The elder Shehu was found dead in December and Bashkim was sentenced to ten years in prison for distributing subversive propaganda. Mehmet Shehu
Mehmet Ismail Shehu (January 10, 1913 – December 18, 1981) was an Albanian communist politician who served as the 23rd Prime Minister of Albania from 1954 to 1981. As an acknowledged military tactician, without whose leadership the communist partisans may well have failed in their battle to win Albania for the Marxist-Leninist cause, Shehu exhibited an ideological understanding and work ethic that singled him out for rapid promotion in the communist party.Europe since 1945: an encyclopedia, Volume 1 Author Bernard A. Ylli Shehu
Ylli Shehu (born 13 March 1966) is an Albanian retired football player. Club career Shehu made his senior debut for Partizani against Naftëtari Qyteti Stalin in 1984 aged only 16 and he won two Albanian championships in 1987 and 1993 with them. He had been out injured for almost two years from 1990 only to regain fitness and win that second league title. After that he moved to Croatia and spent several seasons with HNK Šibenik, scoring 40 goals in the Croatian Prva HNL. He also played for Apollon Athens in the Greek Alpha Ethniki and had a season in Belgium with Cercle Brugge. International career He made his debut for Albania in a September 1988 friendly match away to Romania and earned a total of 10 caps, scoring 1 goal. His final international was a September 1995 European Championship qualification match against Bulgaria. Borno Emirate
The Borno Emirate or Borno Sultanate is a traditional Nigerian state formed at the start of the 20th century. It is headed by descendants of the rulers of the Bornu Empire, founded before 1000. The rulers have the title Shehu of Borno (var. Shehu of Bornu, Sultan of Borno/u). The traditional Emirate of Borno maintains a ceremonial rule of the Kanuri people, based in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria, but acknowledged by the 4 million Kanuri in neighbouring countries. The current ruling line, the al-Kanemi dynasty, dates to the accession of Muhammad al-Amin al-Kanemi in the early 19th century, displacing the Sayfawa dynasty which had ruled from around 1300. Dikwa Emirate The Dikwa Emirate is one of the successor states to the old Bornu Empire, a traditional state within Borno State, Nigeria. It was established in 1901 at the start of the colonial period after the Bornu empire had been partitioned between the British, French and Germans. History The old Bornu Empire, collapsed in 1893 when the Shuwa Arab Rabeh Zubayr ibn Fadl Allah seized power and transferred the capital to Dikwa. After the French, then expanding in West Africa, defeated and killed Rabih they installed Shehu Sanda Kura, a member of the old Bornu dynasty, as the first Shehu of Borno in Dikwa in 1900. In 1901 they replaced him by his brother Umar Abubakar Garbai, ancestor of the current Emirs of Borno. Based on a treaty between the French, Germans and British, the old Bornu was split up and Dikwa became part of the German colony of Cameroon.
