Joachim Fest
Joachim Clemens Fest (8 December 1926 – 11 September 2006) was a German historian, journalist, critic and editor who was best known for his writings and public commentary on Nazi Germany, including a biography of Adolf Hitler and books about Albert Speer and German resistance to Nazism. He was a leading figure in the debate among German historians about the Nazi era. In recent years his writings have earned both praise and strong criticism. Early life and career Fest was born in the Karlshorst locality of Berlin, the son of Johannes Fest, a conservative Roman Catholic and staunch anti-Nazi schoolteacher who was dismissed from his post when the Nazis came to power in 1933. In 1936, when Fest turned 10, his family refused to make him join the Hitler Youth, a step that could have had serious repercussions for the family although membership became compulsory only in 1939. In academia, a ''Festschrift'' (; plural, ''Festschriften'' ) is a book honoring a respected person, especially an academic, and presented during their lifetime. It generally takes the form of an edited volume, containing contributions from the honoree's colleagues, former pupils, and friends. The Fest
The Fest is an annual music festival in Gainesville, Florida, United States, which takes place on the weekend of the Florida–Georgia football game (around Halloween). Originally organized by Tony Weinbender, formerly of No Idea Records, it predominantly features punk rock, hardcore punk, and pop-punk artists, though there are also numerous indie rock, metalcore, Heavy metal music, metal, and ska bands. History The first The Fest festival took place on May 24–25, 2002, but starting with The Fest II, it was moved to the weekend of October 17–18, 2003. It has since attracted a large turnout throughout the years. Bands perform across a variety of venues (varying from small bars to large concert halls) in the downtown Gainesville area. Constantin Nicolaus Johannes Joachim Fest (born 1 July 1962) is a German politician (Alternative for Germany) and former journalist, who is serving as a Member of the European Parliament. Life Fest was deputy editor-in-chief of Bild am Sonntag of Springer SE. In 2014 he wrote a comment in which he called Islam an "obstacle to integration". FEST (film Festival)
FEST is an annual film festival held in Belgrade, Serbia since 1971., International Radio of Serbia'', (VoiceOfSerbia.org in English) (glassrbije.org in Serbian), February 22, 2013. The festival is usually held in the first quarter of the year. It was the only film festival in socialist countries that attracted big Hollywood stars such as Jack Nicholson, Kirk Douglas, Robert De Niro, Dennis Hopper, Peter Fonda and famous directors like Miloš Forman, Francis Ford Coppola, Roman Polanski, Sam Peckinpah, Pier Paolo Pasolini etc. The festival's significance declined in the 1990s, mostly due to the international embargo FR Yugoslavia was under at the time. In 1993 and 1994, it was not even held, and in 1997, it was interrupted in protest against police brutality taking place against student protesters. However, FEST still attracts numerous movie buffs. In 2007, 98,191 tickets were sold for around 80 films.
