''Shall Noise Upon'' is the third and final studio album by Apollo Sunshine. It was released on vinyl and digital download on August 5, 2008. A CD version followed on September 2. History The record, which went under "Mysteries of the Old Soul" as a working title, was recorded during the summer of 2007 in the Catskill Mountains, in a "house inhabited by spirits" and located next door to the home of the original Uncle Sam. Announcement of the finishing of the record was first announced on the band's website, where this message was posted: A more formal announcement was made on May 29 by JamBase.com, which officially announced the album's title ''Shall Noise Upon'' and the track listing. Uncle Sam (which has the same initials as ''United States'') is a common national personification of the federal government of the United States or the country in general. White Flight is the solo project of Justin Roelofs, longtime musician and former singer/songwriter/guitarist for The Anniversary. Roelofs recorded a self-titled debut album at both a former neighbor and long-time childhood friend's house in Overland Park, Kansas and several locations around Lawrence, Kansas. Background "White Flight" is an assembly of sounds, both electronic and vocal. Roelofs recorded the sounds shortly after returning from what he describes as an enlightening exploration of traditional medicinal and hallucinogenic plants in the jungle of Peru. Edan Portnoy (born 1978), better known as Edan, is an American hip hop artist from Rockville, Maryland. Early life Born to middle-class parents who immigrated from Israel, Portnoy grew up in Rockville, Maryland. He is Jewish. In high school, he bought his first turntables and started mixing beats. Apollo Sunshine was an alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. History Founding Sam Cohen, Jesse Gallagher, and Jeremy Black originally met in 1997 in Boston, where the three were attending a Berklee College of Music summer performance program.
