''Shakedown!'' is the debut Album, studio album by American rock band TheStart (band), theSTART. It was released on July 24, 2001, through The Label Records, a short-lived record label owned by The Firm, Inc., The Firm, with distribution from Geffen Records. Vocalist Aimee Echo and keyboardist/bassist Jamie Miller formed theSTART, originally known as Hero, in August 1998, and recruited drummer Scott Ellis and guitarist Mike Smith soon afterwards. After coming to the attention of producer Josh Abraham, the band signed to Abraham's imprint label, JAB Recordings, on 143 Records, 143 and Atlantic Records in July 1999. Originally known as ''Circles'', ''Shakedown!'' was first recorded from September to December 1999,with additional recording taking place between December 2000 and January 2001. theStart (stylized as theSTART) is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California. Their current lineup includes Aimee Echo, Jamie Miller, Erick Sanger and Chelsea Davis. History Aimee Echo and Jamie Miller formed the band in 1998, originally named Hero. They changed it to theStart because "Hero" was already being used by another band. Their starting lineup included bassist Jeff Jaeger, drummer Scott Ellis (formerly of Mellowdrone and She Wants Revenge), and guitarist Mike Smith. Their debut album, ''Shakedown!'', was released in 2001 on Geffen Records. Following a period of touring, they discovered that their record label was closing. Jamie Miller (American Musician)
Jamie Miller is an American musician, currently the drummer for rock bands Bad Religion, Vanishing Life and Snot. He is also the lead guitarist and the backing vocalist for theStart, and was formerly the drummer for Souls at Zero and the drummer and guitarist for ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead. Souls at Zero (1994–1996) Miller joined the band Souls at Zero, replacing drummer Shannon Larkin after he left to join Ugly Kid Joe in 1994. He played on Souls at Zero's final album ''A Taste for the Perverse''. Snot (1996–present) Miller joined Snot in 1996. Snot signed with Geffen Records, and began work on their debut album, '' Get Some'', released on May 27, 1997. Although the album received positive critical notice, sales were disappointing. Mike Smith (born October 11, 1973) is a musician, best known as the former guitarist of Snot, TheStart, and Limp Bizkit. Currently he is the singer and guitarist for the band Shedding Light (previously known as Evolver). Mike Smith also appeared in Staind's music video " Outside". Career Rumbledog Mike Smith played the guitar for the hard rock band Rumbledog from 1993 to 1996. New Wave Music
New wave is a loosely defined music genre that encompasses pop-oriented styles from the late 1970s and the 1980s.
