Shafiq-ur-Rahman ( ur, ) (9 November 1920 – 19 March 2000) was a Pakistani humorist and a short-story writer of Urdu language. He was one of the most illustrious writers of the Urdu speaking world. Like Mark Twain and Stephen Leacock, he has given enduring pleasure to his readers. He was a medical doctor by profession, and served in Pakistan Army. He also received ''Hilal-e-Imtiaz'' for his military and civilian services. He has widely been appreciated by the writers and critics of Urdu literature. Early life Rahman was born in a Muslim family in Kalanaur, a small town near Rohtak, British India. He received his education in Bahawalpur. He completed his MBBS from King Edward Medical College, Lahore in 1942, and post-graduation in tropical medicine and public health from Edinburgh, in 1952. Shafiqur Rahman Barq (born 11 July 1930) is an Indian politician belonging to the Samajwadi Party. He has been elected to Lok Sabha at various times from Moradabad as Samajwadi Party candidate and Sambhal, most recently in 2019. Shafik Rehman
Shafik Rehman (born 11 November 1934) is a Bangladeshi journalist, political analyst, and writer. He is credited for introducing Valentine's Day in Bangladesh. He has worked to gather support in favour of Bangladesh in England with Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. Rehman founded the weekly Jaijaidin in 1984 which was critical to General Hussain Muhammad Ershad, a military leader who assumed power through a military coup in 1982. He was forced to leave the country in 1986 after the Ershad government suspended the declaration of Jaijaidin and was not allowed to return Bangladesh till 1991. Rehman was a director of Spectrum Radio in England. Rehman has been serving as the editor of magazine Mouchake Dhil from 2009.
