Shadow Cabinet (UK)
The Official Opposition Shadow Cabinet, or His Majesty’s Most Loyal Opposition Shadow Cabinet, but usually simply the Shadow Cabinet, is the committee of senior members of the Official Opposition (United Kingdom), Official Opposition who scrutinise the work of the Cabinet of the United Kingdom. Each Shadow Cabinet member is typically given a position which corresponds to that of a Government of the United Kingdom, government Minister (government), minister in Cabinet. Official Opposition (United Kingdom)
His Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition (or Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition when a queen reigns), commonly known as the Official Opposition (or colloquially The Opposition) in the United Kingdom, is the main political opposition to His Majesty's Government. This is usually the largest political party in the House of Commons that does not form part of the government or a governing coalition. Christopher Ian Brian Mynott Philp (born 6 July 1976) is a British politician who has served as Shadow Home Secretary since November 2024. He held the post of Minister of State for Crime, Policing and Fire from October 2022 to July 2024. Central Devon is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2010 by Mel Stride of the Conservative Party. History The constituency was created for the 2010 general election, following a review of parliamentary representation in Devon by the Boundary Commission for England, which increased seats in the county from 11 to 12. Central Devon covers parts of the East Devon, Mid Devon, Teignbridge and West Devon districts. The wards from the last election presented a notional Conservative majority of just over 1,700, making it a marginal seat at the first election.
