Shadhin Bangla Football Team
The Shadhin Bangla football team ( Bengali : স্বাধীন বাংলা ফুটবল দল; ''lit. Independent Bengal football team'') was formed by Bangladesh Krira Samity of the Bangladeshi government in exile shortly after the start of liberation war in 1971. This is the first instance of a Bangladesh national football team in any form. The team toured throughout India playing a total of 16 friendly matches to raise international awareness and economic support for the liberation war. The Shadhin Bangla football team captain Zakaria Pintoo, was the first person to hoist the Bangladesh flag outside the territorial Bangladesh. By the end of the 16th match the team had contributed Tk 5 lac to Muktijuddho Fund in 1971. Zakaria Pintoo
Zakaria Pintoo (; 1 January 1943 – 18 November 2024), alternatively spelled Zakaria Pintu, was a Bangladeshi footballer who played as a defender. He was the first captain of the Bangladesh national team. Pintoo gained fame as the captain of the Shadhin Bangla football team during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Before the country's independence, Pintoo represented both the Pakistan national football team and the East Pakistan football team, captaining the latter on numerous occasions. In club football, Pintoo represented Mohammedan SC, one of the most popular clubs in Bangladesh, for a continuous period of 14 years. In recognition of his contribution to the country's football, the Government of Bangladesh honored him with the Independence Award in 1995, and the National Sports Awards in 1978. Jessore (, ), officially Jashore, is a city of Jessore District in Khulna Division. It lies in southwestern Bangladesh. Lutfor Rahman (footballer)
Lutfor Rahman is a retired footballer of the Shadhin Bangla Football Team, the first national football team of Bangladesh, during the Bangladesh Liberation War. He played matches around India to raise funds and awareness for the Bangladesh Liberation War. Early life Rahman was born in 1951 in Jessore District. Career Rahman played for the Jashore District Football Team and Jashore District Hockey Team from 1965 to 1975. He joined the Wari Club Dhaka in 1969. He joined the Shadhin Bangla Football Team at the start of Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. He was the general secretary of the Bangladesh Krira Somity of the Mujibnagar government. SM Ainul Haque (; 1947 – 28 August 2017) was a Bangladeshi footballer who played as a defender. He represented the Shadhin Bangla football team during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Early life Sheikh Mohamed Ainul Haque was born in 1947 in Muksudpur Upazila, Gopalganj District in East Bengal, Pakistan. Mohammed Sheikh Taslim Uddin
Mohammed Sheikh Taslim Uddin was a Bangladeshi footballer who played as a midfielder and was a member of the historic Shadhin Bangla Football Team formed during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Ali Imam (footballer)
Ali Imam (; 12 April 1949 – 14 March 1989) was a former Bangladeshi football player and coach. Playing career Ali Imam began his career as a left-winger at Dhaka Wanderers in 1963, under the guidance of his older brother Ali Hafiz. Nonetheless, Imam suffered continuous injuries throughout his career, keeping him out of action for the next two years. He represented Azad Sporting Club during both the 1966 and 1967 editions of the Aga Khan Gold Cup.
