Severn Tunnel Junction railway station () is a minor station on the western side of the Severn Tunnel in the village of Rogiet, Monmouthshire, Wales. It is from London Paddington and lies at the junction of the South Wales Main Line from London and the Gloucester to Newport Line. The next station to the west is Newport. The next stations to the east are at Pilning in South Gloucestershire (through the Severn Tunnel) and nearby Caldicot (on the Gloucester line). History The South Wales Main Line was opened through the village of Rogiet in 1850. At this time Rogiet was little more than a church and a farm, and the expansion of the village did not begin until after the opening of the station in 1886. During construction of the Severn Tunnel, several maps were printed that labelled the new junction as Rogiet Station, although the station was always named ''Severn Tunnel Junction'' from the time that it opened to the public on 1 December 1886. Rogiet
Rogiet (; ) is a small village and community (and electoral ward) in Monmouthshire, south east Wales, between Caldicot and Magor, west of Chepstow and east of Newport, which covers an area of . It lies close to the M4 and M48 motorways, and the Second Severn Crossing. It is adjacent to the main railway line into South Wales, and has a railway station named Severn Tunnel Junction. Rogiet had a population of 1,813 in the 2011 census. In the village is Rogiet Primary School, a 210-place school for pupils aged between 4 and 11 years. The school moved to a new, eco-friendly building in November 2009. History The village adjoins the Caldicot Levels. Its name is of uncertain derivation, and was formerly spelled ''Roggiatt'', ''Roggiett'' or ''Roggiet''. Grand Union (train Operating Company)
Grand Union was a proposed open access operator, that had developed plans to operate train services in the United Kingdom from England to Scotland and Wales. The operator had two main proposed routes. One being an England–Wales route, between London Paddington, in England, and , in Wales. The other being an England–Scotland route, between London Euston and Stirling. In December 2022, the company was authorised by the Office of Rail and Road to operate trains between London Paddington and Carmarthen from December 2024. It was later granted the rights to operate the England to Scotland service between London Euston and Stirling, in March 2024. Gowerton railway station (originally Gower Road and later Gowerton North) serves the village of Gowerton, Wales. It is located at street level at the end of Station Road in Gowerton, from the zero point at , measured via Stroud. CrossCountry (legal name XC Trains Limited) is a British train operating company owned by Arriva UK Trains, operating the current CrossCountry franchise.
