The Seventy-fourth session of the United Nations General Assembly was the session of the United Nations General Assembly which was opened on 17 of September 2019 until 16 September 2020. The theme for the 74th Session is "Effective responses to global crises: strengthening multilateralism and dialogue among civilizations for international peace, security and development." Organisation for the session President On 4 June 2019, Nigerian diplomat and politician Tijjani Muhammad-Bande was elected by acclamation to the position of President of the General Assembly. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande
Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, GCON OFR (born 7 December 1957) is a Nigerian diplomat, academic and political scientist who was the President of the United Nations General Assembly of 74th session from 17 September 2019 to 15 September 2020. He previously served as vice president from September 2016. He was Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva from 2018 to 2021. From 2010 to 2016, he was the director general of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Nigeria, and was the Vice Chancellor of the Usmanu Danfodio University from 2004 to 2009. United Nations General Assembly Fourth Committee
The United Nations General Assembly Fourth Committee (also known as the Special Political and Decolonization Committee or SPECPOL or C4) is one of six main committees of the United Nations General Assembly. It deals with a diverse set of political issues, including UN peacekeeping and peaceful uses of outer space. However, the issues of decolonization and the Middle East take up most of its time.
