Servant Of The People Party
Servant of the People (; ''SN'') is a liberal, centrist, pro-European political party in Ukraine. Since both the 2019 Ukrainian presidential election and the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election, it has been the ruling political party in Ukraine. It is best known for being the political party of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The party is named after the popular Ukrainian TV series ''Servant of the People'', in which Zelenskyy played a fictional Ukrainian president. Olena Oleksiivna Shuliak (; born 24 January 1976) is a Ukrainian politician who has been serving as Leader of Servant of the People (political party), Servant of the People since 2021. Shuliak has also been a People's Deputy of Ukraine, People's Deputy, after having elected to the Verkhovna Rada in 2019. Shuliak is also the Chairwoman of a Committee in the Verkhovna Rada for the Organization of the State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning, and the chairwoman of the Coordination Сouncil, which solves problematic issues in the field of urban planning under the President of Ukraine. The European Conservatives, Patriots & Affiliates (ECPA) group is a conservative group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. It was founded as the Group of Independent Representatives in 1970 by British and Scandinavian members of PACE. It has 76 members from countries including the United Kingdom, Austria, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Sweden and Italy. It was known as the European Democrat Group until its renaming in 2014, the European Conservatives Group until 2019, and the European Conservatives Group and Democratic Alliance (EC/DA) until 2025. While it was only the third group to be founded in PACE (after the Socialist Group and the Christian Democrat Group), it was the first to have an official secretariat, which was established in 1977. Kvartal 95 Studio (; ) is a Ukrainian production company founded in 2003 by Volodymyr Zelenskyy (who later became President of Ukraine) alongside Serhiy and Boris Shefir. The company produces films and television shows in Russian and Ukrainian, as well as organising concerts. History Kvartal 95 Studio was founded in 2003 on the basis of the KVN team Kvartal 95, which, in turn, is named after the 95th Kvartal, Kryvyi Rih, 95th Kvartal, a neighborhood in Kryvyi Rih. ''Servant of the People'', also known as ''Servant of the Nation'', is a Ukrainian political satire comedy series created and produced by Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy plays the main character, Vasyl Petrovych Holoborodko, a high school history teacher in his 30s. He is unexpectedly elected President of Ukraine after a video filmed by one of his students goes viral, in which he delivers a profane rant against government corruption in his country. The series ran for three seasons between 2015 and 2019, and a film adaptation was released in 2016. The series was produced by Kvartal 95, a studio founded by Zelenskyy. 2019 Ukrainian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Ukraine on 21 July 2019. Originally scheduled to be held at the end of October, the elections were brought forward after newly inaugurated President of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dissolved parliament on 21 May 2019, during his inauguration. The elections resulted in an outright majority, a novelty in Ukraine, for Zelenskyy's Servant of the People party, which won 254 seats. About 80 percent of the elected candidates were new to parliament, while 83 deputies were re-elected from 8th Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, the previous parliament and 13 deputies from earlier convocations. 2019 Ukrainian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Ukraine on 31 March 2019. As none of the 39 candidates on the ballot received an absolute majority of the initial vote, a runoff was held on 21 April between the top two vote-getters: Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a television personality, and Petro Poroshenko, the incumbent president. The Central Election Commission (Ukraine), Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that Zelenskyy won the second round with 73.22% of the total vote (or 74.96% of the valid vote).
