Dover (band)
Dover was a Spanish rock band founded in Madrid in 1992. The group was composed of the sisters and group leaders Cristina Llanos (vocals) and Amparo Llanos (lead guitarist), drummer Jesús Antúnez and bassist Samuel Titos. They recorded eight albums, selling around two million copies. They are known for their second album '' Devil Came to Me'', which led them to international fame. In 2006, their sixth album, ''Follow the City Lights'' caused controversy as the style of the group changed from alternative rock to electronic pop. The band won, among other things, the revelation group awards at the 1997 Premios Ondas and the award for best Spanish artist at the 2000 MTV Europe Music Awards. ''Devil Came to Me'' is the second studio album by Spanish rock band Dover. It was released on 21 April 1997 under Subterfuge Records. ''Devil Came to Me'' was recorded and mixed in 20 days in February 1997, at Infinity Estudios in Madrid, with Daniel Alcover, and it cost 80 000 pesetas (at current exchange rates, €480). Dover was disclosed with this record and made the leap to fame. The cover was designed by the drummer of the band, Jesús Antúnez, graphic designer. On 25 September 1997 they won their first gold record for the 50,000 copies sold of the album and subsequently were certified four times platinum to achieve a volume of more than 500,000 albums sold. Following the success of the album, Dover won the Ondas award for best Spanish group revelation on 13 November in Barcelona. Cristina Llanos
Cristina Llanos Fayos (born 3 December 1975) is a Spanish musician, singer, guitarist and songwriter. She was the lead vocalist and principal songwriter of the Spanish rock band Dover. Biography She attended Virgen de Europa School in Boadilla del Monte, and she left it after repeating the course at 18 years old. After living six months in London, she worked in clothing stores that her mother run in a mall of Majadahonda. She is the younger sister of Amparo Llanos, guitarist and band leader of Dover, who influenced her by teaching her to play the guitar and introducing her to bands like The Beatles, R.E.M. or Nirvana.
