Mělník
Mělník (; ) is a town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 20,000 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected as an Cultural monument (Czech Republic)#Monument zones, urban monument zone. Mělník lies in one of the most important agricultural areas of the country. The town is known for its production of Czech wine, wine. Etymology The name is derived from the Slavic word ''mělnit'', here meaning 'to crumble'. Originally, ''Mělník'' was the name of a hill formed by crumbling Cretaceous rocks. Public Affairs (, VV, nicknamed ''véčkaři'') was a political party in the Czech Republic. Its main platform was transparency and opposition to political corruption. It had 24 seats in the 2010–2013 Chamber of Deputies. The party was led by anti-establishment investigative journalist and writer Radek John, and later by Jiří Kohout. Besides opposing corruption, the party shares the fiscally conservative views of the other centre-right parties. It had a number of right-wing populist policies. Petr Hannig
Petr Hannig (20 January 1946 – 21 January 2025) was a Czech singer, producer, politician and leader of the Party of Common Sense. In July 2017, he announced his candidacy for the president of the Czech Republic in the 2018 election. Having finished seventh in the first round with 0.56% of the vote, Hannig then endorsed Miloš Zeman Miloš Zeman (; born 28 September 1944) is a Czech politician who served as the third president of the Czech Republic from 2013 to 2023. The Independents () is a political party in the Czech Republic. History The party was established on 8 September 1994 as the Association of Prague Independents, before adopting its current name in 1995. In the 1996 Chamber of Deputies and Senate elections it received 0.5% of the vote and failed to win a seat. Despite increasing its vote share to 0.9% in the Chamber of Deputies elections and 0.8% in the Senate elections of 1998, the party remained seatless. The 2000 Senate elections saw the party finish fifth, although with only 1.5% of the vote and no seats. However, in the 2002 Senate elections the party received 4% of the vote in the first round, and won two seats. They won two seats in the European Parliament in the 2004 elections, and another seat in the Senate elections later the same year. Radim Uzel
Radim Uzel (27 March 1940 – 2 May 2022) was a Czech sexologist, educator and science popularizer. He often spoke in the media about sexological topics and wrote several dozen books on the subject. Biography Uzel was born in Ostrava. He studied at the gymnasium in Orlová, then he studied at the medical faculty of Masaryk University in Brno, graduating in 1963. He married in 1967, and the marriage lasted until his wife's death in 2021. In 1973, he became head of the department of gynecological sexology and endocrinology in Ostrava. After 1989, he moved to the Institute for Mother and Child Care in Prague, which is also one of the largest maternity hospitals in the country. He became a popularizer of sexology and often spoke in the media on sexological topics. He was actively involved in scientific activities and education in the field of sexology.
