Olsztyn is a Polish List of Polish parliamentary districts, parliamentary constituency in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It elects ten members of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Sejm. The district has the number '35' for elections to the Sejm and is named after the city of Olsztyn. National Assembly Of The Republic Of Poland
The parliament of Poland is the bicameral legislature of Poland. It is composed of an upper house (the Senate) and a lower house (the Sejm). Both houses are accommodated in the Sejm and Senate Complex in Warsaw. The Constitution of Poland does not refer to the Parliament as a body, but only to the Sejm and Senate. Members of both houses are elected by direct election, usually every four years. The Sejm has 460 members, while the Senate has 100 senators. To become law, a bill must first be approved by both houses, but the Sejm can override a Senate refusal to pass a bill. On certain occasions, the Marshal of the Sejm summons the National Assembly, a joint session of the members of both houses. The European Parliament (EP) is one of the two legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Janusz Antoni Cieszyński (born ) is a Polish politician who was Minister of Digital Affairs under Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in his second cabinet since . Artur Henryk Chojecki (born April 19, 1974, in Elbląg) is a Polish politician and local government official who served as the Voivode of Warmian–Masurian Voivodeship in the years 2015–2023 and from 2023 is a member of the Sejm of the 10th term. Law and Justice ( , PiS) is a right-wing populist and national-conservative political party in Poland. The party is a member of European Conservatives and Reformists Group. Its chairman has been Jarosław Kaczyński since 18 January 2003. It was founded in 2001 by Jarosław and Lech Kaczyński as a direct successor of the Centre Agreement after it split from the Solidarity Electoral Action (AWS). Iwona Ewa Arent (née Grykiel; born 4 June 1968 in Olsztyn) is a Polish politician and political scientist, member of the Sejm of the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th terms and a delegate to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Biography In the 1980s, Arent was active in Catholic youth organizations. Arent graduated from IV High School in Olsztyn. City County (Poland)
A city with powiat rights () is in Poland a designation denoting 66 of the 107 cities (the urban gminas which are governed by a city mayor or ''prezydent miasta'') which exercise also the powers and duties of a county (), thus being an independent city. They have roughly the same status as former county boroughs in the United Kingdom. Sometimes, such a city will also be referred to in Polish as city county (); this term however is not official (it was used during the interwar times of the Second Polish Republic). The contemporary term ''city with powiat rights'' should not be used interchangeably with the interwar ''city county''.
