Frank Morley (September 9, 1860 – October 17, 1937) was a leading mathematician, known mostly for his teaching and research in the fields of algebra and geometry. James Harkness (mathematician)
James Harkness (1864–1923) was a Canadian mathematician, born in Derby, England, and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge with a B.A. in 1885 and an M.A. in 1889. Irving Stringham
Washington Irving Stringham (December 10, 1847 – October 5, 1909) was an American mathematician born in Yorkshire, New York. He was the first person to denote the natural logarithm as \ln(x) where x is its argument. The use of \ln(x) in place of \log_e(x) is commonplace in digital calculators today. "In place of ^\log we shall henceforth use the shorter symbol \ln, made up of the initial letters of ''logarithm'' and of ''natural'' or ''Napierian''." Stringham graduated from Harvard College in 1877. He earned his PhD from Johns Hopkins University in 1880. William Rowan Hamilton
Sir William Rowan Hamilton (4 August 1805 – 2 September 1865) was an Irish astronomer, mathematician, and physicist who made numerous major contributions to abstract algebra, classical mechanics, and optics. His theoretical works and mathematical equations are considered fundamental to modern theoretical physics, particularly Hamiltonian mechanics, his reformulation of Lagrangian mechanics.
