Billings, Montana
Billings is the largest city in the U.S. state of Montana, with a population of 117,116 as of the 2020 census. Located in the south-central portion of the state, it is the seat of Yellowstone County and the principal city of the Billings Metropolitan Area, which had a population of 184,167 in the 2020 census. It has a trade area of over 500,000. Billings was nicknamed the "Magic City" because of its rapid growth from its founding as a railroad town in March 1882. First Interstate Center is a signature commercial office building located in the Transwestern Plaza, a complex consisting of four office towers with a total of 20 floors in the downtown core of Billings, Montana, United States. Dehler Park
Dehler Park is a multi-use stadium in Billings, Montana. It is primarily used for baseball and is the home of the Billings Mustangs of the independent Pioneer League. It is also the home field of the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets. The ballpark opened on June 29, 2008 and has a capacity of 3,071 people (6,000 including standing room only). It replaced Cobb Field which was a fixture in Billings since the 1930s. The groundbreaking ceremony took place March 22, 2007. The stadium was named by Billings businessman Jon Dehler, who purchased the naming rights in 2007 to honor his father, Billy Joe Dehler. The park still has part of Cobb Field included, as a section down the right field line includes some of the same bench seating used at the old stadium. Yellowstone River
The Yellowstone River is a tributary of the Missouri River, approximately long, in the Western United States. Considered the principal tributary of upper Missouri, via its own tributaries it drains an area with headwaters across the mountains and high plains of southern Montana and northern Wyoming, and stretching east from the Rocky Mountains in the vicinity of Yellowstone National Park. Rimrocks
The Rimrocks (also known as the "Rims") are geological rimrock sandstone formations that outcrop in sections of Billings, Montana. Eighty million years ago the Billings metro area was the shore of the Western Interior Seaway, a sea that went from the present-day Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic North. Sediment and sand from the sea were deposited around the shoreline. Over time the sea rose and fell leaving behind a deep layer of sand. Over millions of years this sand was compressed into the sandstone the rims are made of. It is known as Eagle Sandstone. Around a million years ago a much larger river than the current-day Yellowstone River began cutting a canyon into the valley floor of Eagle Sandstone, creating what today is known as the Rimrocks. Billings Central Catholic High School
Billings Central Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Billings, Montana, United States. It is one of three Catholic high schools in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Great Falls-Billings. Background Billings Central Catholic opened in 1944 with its first class graduating in 1948. It was the first diocesan Catholic high school in the Diocese of Great Falls in eastern Montana. A new building was completed in 1947 and "Billings Central Catholic" has been located there since.
