Benito 'Ben' T. Ysursa is an American attorney and politician who served as the Secretary of State of Idaho from 2003 to 2015. He is a member of the Republican Party. Early life and education Ysursa is a native of Boise, Idaho and was born to a Basque American family. His paternal grandparents, Benito Ysursa and Asuncion Camporredondo, were immigrants from the Basque Country. His father, Ramon Ysursa (1920-2015), was active in the Basque American community in Boise. Ben Ysursa graduated from Bishop Kelly High School in 1967. Arnold Williams (May 21, 1898 – May 25, 1970) was an American politician and businessman who served as the 21st governor of Idaho from 1945 until 1947. A member of the Democratic Party, he later served as Idaho's secretary of state from 1959 until 1966. Early life and education Born in Fillmore, Utah, Williams attended its public school and Henagers Business College in Salt Lake City. Career Williams served in the U.S. Army during World War I. Following his discharge, he established a successful dry cleaning business in Rexburg, Idaho. After serving in government at the local and county level, he was elected to the Idaho House in 1936 and served several terms. The Silver Republican Party, later known as the Lincoln Republican Party, was a United States political party from 1896 to 1901. It was so named because it split from the Republican Party by supporting free silver (effectively, expansionary monetary policy) and bimetallism.
