The is a high-ranking position within the Japanese conservative party, the Liberal Democratic Party (Japan), Liberal Democratic Party. According to the LDP constitution, the secretary-general assists the President of the Liberal Democratic Party (Japan), party president in their duties. As the LDP vice president is a largely ceremonial position, the secretary-general is ''de facto'' the second-most-powerful person in the party. The secretary-general is authorized to raise political donations and controls the party finances. The secretary-general holds the final authority over the list of LDP-backed candidates for the National Diet elections. The secretary-general oversees the LDP Diet Affairs Committee, responsible for steering party-supported bills through both chambers of the Diet, and appoints its chairman. Hiroshi Moriyama
is a Japanese politician who has served as Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party since 2024. He previously served as Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries from 2015 to 2016. He was a member of the House of Councillors from 1998 to 2004 and has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2004. Shūji Masutani
Shūji Masutani (益谷秀次; 17 January 1888–18 August 1973) was a Japanese jurist and politician who was a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. He served at the House of Representatives for a long time. Biography Masutani was born in Ushitsu Town, Ishikawa Prefecture, on 17 January 1888. He was a graduate of both the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University. Susumu Nikaidō
was a Japanese politician who served in the House of Representatives and as Chief Cabinet Secretary from 1972 to 1974. He was a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and headed one of its most powerful factions in the 1980s. Early life Nikaidō was born in Kagoshima Prefecture. Shigeru Hori
was a prominent Japanese politician who served in various cabinet positions, including Chief Cabinet Secretary, and was also Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan. Kakuei Tanaka
