"Sea of Sorrow" is a song by the American rock band Alice in Chains, featured on their debut full-length album ''Facelift'' (1990). The song was included on the compilation album ''The Essential Alice in Chains'' (2006). A demo version of the song was included on the box set ''Music Bank'' (1999). Release and reception "Sea of Sorrow" peaked at number 27 on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. "Sea of Sorrow" was a moderate success and is still occasionally played on alternative rock radio stations. Ned Raggett of AllMusic said that the song "showed that even as a fairly young group Alice in Chains wanted to fool around with expectations at least a bit" and that "just about every member gets a little moment of flair on the track." Sean Kinney
Sean Howard Kinney (born May 27, 1966) is an American musician, best known as the drummer and co-founder of the rock band Alice in Chains. Kinney also founded the short-lived Supergroup (music), supergroup Spys4Darwin, and has collaborated with other artists such as Johnny Cash and Metallica. He played drums for his Alice in Chains bandmate, Jerry Cantrell's first solo album, ''Boggy Depot'' (1998). Since 2009, Kinney has been co-owner of The Crocodile club in Seattle. Michael Christopher Starr (April 4, 1966 – March 8, 2011) was an American musician best known as the original bassist for the rock band Alice in Chains, with which he played from the band's formation in 1987 until January 1993. He was also a member of Sato, Gypsy Rose, Sun Red Sun, and Days of the New. Starr had a long history of substance abuse, including addictions to both heroin and synthetic opioids. In 2011, he died of a prescription drug overdose at the age of 44. Career In 1983, Starr formed the heavy metal band Sato.
