Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The Scotties Tournament of Hearts ('; commonly referred to as the Scotties) is the annual Canadian women's curling championship, sanctioned by Curling Canada, formerly called the Canadian Curling Association. The winner goes on to represent Canada at the women's world curling championships. Since 1985, the winner also gets to return to the following year's tournament as "Team Canada". It is formally known as the "Canadian Women's Curling Championship". Since 1982, the tournament has been sponsored by Kruger Products, which was formerly known as Scott Paper Limited when it was a Canadian subsidiary of Scott Paper Company, therefore, the tournament was formerly known as the Scott Tournament of Hearts. Rachel Homan
Rachel Catherine Homan (born April 5, 1989) is a Canadian international curling, curler and the reigning women's world champion. Homan is a former 2010 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Canadian junior champion, a five-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canadian national champion, and three-time World Champion, all as a skip (curling), skip. She was also the skip of the Canadian women's curling team at the 2018 Winter Olympics. During her junior career, Homan competed in two Canadian Junior Curling Championships, placing second 2009 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, in 2009 and winning the championship in 2010. Curling Ontario (formerly the Ontario Curling Association and CurlON) is the governing body of curling in Southern Ontario. Northern Ontario is governed by the Northern Ontario Curling Association (NOCA). The Curling Ontario sends a team to represent Team Ontario at all major Canadian Championships. The Brier ('), known since 2024 as the Montana's Brier for sponsorship reasons, is the annual Canadian men's curling championship, sanctioned by Curling Canada. Muriel Eleanor Coben (February 17, 1921 – June 8, 1979) was a Canadian pitcher who played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Listed at 5' 3", 135 lb., she batted and threw right handed. Muriel Coben was one of the 68 players born in Canada to join the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in its twelve years history. She also became one of the original 60 founding members of the league in its 1943 inaugural season. Sylvia Olga Fedoruk ( e-doruk Ukrainian: Федорук) (May 5, 1927 – September 26, 2012) was a Canadian physicist, medical physicist, curler and the 17th lieutenant governor of Saskatchewan, from 1988 to 1994. Life Born in Canora, Saskatchewan to Ukrainian immigrants Annie Romaniuk and Theodore Fedoruk, Fedoruk attended a one room schoolhouse in Wroxton, north east of Yorkton. Her father was her teacher. Helen Joyce McKee (October 29, 1933 – December 28 or 29, 1999) was a Canadians, Canadian curling, curler from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was a five-time Canadian champion. Lacolle () is a municipality in southern Quebec, Canada, located in the administrative area of the Montérégie, on the Canada–United States border. The 1960 Diamond "D" Championship, Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canadian women's curling championship was an invitational curling tournament held to determine Canada's national women's curling champions that year. It was held on March 25 at the Oshawa Curling rink in Oshawa, Ontario. The tournament was a best of three series held between the champion teams from Western and Eastern Canada. Team West, skipped by Joyce McKee of Saskatchewan easily won the series, 2 games to none, over the Eastern Canadian champion Ruth Smith (curler), Ruth Smith rink of Quebec. The event was held as a forerunner of the first official national championship which would be held 1961 Diamond D Championship, the following year.
