Scott Lewis (rugby League)
Scott Lewis (born 17 September 1963) is an Australian former rugby league footballer, best known for playing alongside his brother Wally in the Brisbane Rugby League during the 1980s, winning a premiership with Wynnum-Manly in 1986. A utility back, Lewis primarily played on the , though his preferred position was . Lewis is the father of former Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs halfback Lachlan Lewis. Hawthorne, Queensland
Hawthorne is a suburb of the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Hawthorne had a population of 4,989 people. Geography Hawthorne is located by road east of the CBD. Toponymy There are two theories about the name of the suburb. One is that butcher William Baynes purchased land in the area in 1875 and named the area after Hawthorn in Melbourne where he lived before his arrival in Queensland in 1859. An alternative theory is that Baynes planted many hawthorne bushes in the 1850s and 1860s. History Hawthorne started as a farming district in the 1860s, and was gradually subdivided as Brisbane grew. Ross Henrick
Ross Henrick (7 December 1954 – 8 May 2005) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. Nicknamed "The Angry Ant", he was a Queensland State of Origin representative halfback, and played club football in the Brisbane Rugby League premiership for Fortitude Valley, Norths and Redcliffe. Henrick played at halfback and scored a try in Norths' victory in the 1980 Brisbane Rugby League Grand Final. Henrick was Wally Lewis' partner in the halves for Queensland's victory in the 1981 State of Origin game, the second ever. He was selected on Queensland's bench for Game II of the 1983 State of Origin series. His final appearance for Queensland was at halfback in Game III of the 1984 State of Origin series. The Brisbane Broncos Rugby League Football Club Ltd., commonly referred to as the Broncos, is an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Brisbane, Queensland. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles
The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Sydney's Northern Beaches. The team colours are maroon and white, while their namesake and logo is the sea eagle. They compete in Australia's premier rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL). The club debuted in the 1947 New South Wales Rugby Football League season and currently host the majority of their home games from Brookvale Oval in Brookvale, while training at the New South Wales Academy of Sport in Narrabeen. Grant Rix
Grant Rix (born ) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. During his career he played in the Brisbane Rugby League premiership for Fortitude Valley Diehards, the New South Wales Rugby League premiership with the Brisbane Broncos and in England with Halifax R.L.F.C., Halifax. Rix had huge potential and was seen to be the successor to Wally Lewis until he was struck with successive knee operations and was forced to retire aged 24 years. Playing career Rix was selected for the Australian Schoolboys 1982 & 1983 and Queensland v New Zealand 1984 (18 years 254 days old). He toured Papua New Guinea with the President's XIII Australian side in 1985. Redcliffe Dolphins
The Redcliffe Dolphins are a semi-professional rugby league club based in Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. Founded in 1947, they were accepted into the Brisbane Rugby League (BRL) premiership competition in 1960, and since 1996 have played in the Queensland Cup. The Redcliffe Dolphins thrived in the BRL. However, the 1988 admission of the Brisbane Broncos team in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition caused the decline of the BRL. Although a separately licensed Dolphins (NRL) team is scheduled to compete in the fully professional 2023 national competition, the Redcliffe squad will continue to play in the Queensland competition.
