The Dirty Politics Of Climate Change
''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archaic pro ...

Tropic Thunder
''Tropic Thunder'' is a 2008 satirical action comedy film directed by Ben Stiller, who wrote the screenplay with Justin Theroux and Etan Cohen. When their frustrated director (Steve Coogan) drops them in the middle of a jungle, they are forced to rely on their acting skills to survive the real action and danger. ''Tropic Thunder'' parodies many famous war films, specifically those based on the Vietnam War. The ensemble cast includes Tom Cruise, Nick Nolte, Danny McBride, Matthew McConaughey, and Bill Hader. Stiller developed ''Tropic Thunder'' premise during the production of ''Empire of the Sun'' in the spring of 1987, and later enlisted Theroux and Cohen to complete a script. The film was green-lit in 2006 and produced by Stuart Cornfeld, Stiller, and Eric McLeod for Red Hour Productions and DreamWorks Pictures as an inte ...

Scorcher (magazine)
''Scorcher'' was the name of a football-themed British comic magazine published by IPC between January 1970 and October 1974. ''Scorcher'' featured various well-known comic strips, such as ''Billy's Boots'', ''Bobby of the Blues'' and ''Lags Eleven'', a story about a prison football team. In addition, the ''Nipper'' strip was absorbed from the ''Score'' comic, and '' Hot Shot Hamish'' made its first appearance after that. Some of these stories later found homes in ''Roy of the Rovers'' and in ''Tiger''. IPC Magazines, the publishers of ''Scorcher'', always referred to it as a "paper" rather than a comic in its editorials, to distinguish it from more child oriented publications such as ''The Beano'' or ''The Dandy''. In addition to its realistic and comedic football themed stories, it contained factual items about British professional football, and advertisements not only for contemporary toys, games and confectionery, but also others aimed at an older readership, such as for the ...

Scorcher (video Game)
''Scorcher'' is a futuristic racing video game by Danish developer Zyrinx, released in 1996 for the PC and in 1997 for the Sega Saturn. Originally announced under the name "Vertigo", the game focuses on special motorcycles that reach up to 450 km/h racing through dangerous tracks in a dystopian year 2021. ''Scorcher'' was one of the most graphically advanced Sega Saturn games of its time, enough so that Sega shipped an unfinished version of the game to third-party developers as a graphics demo for the Saturn. Reception Though the Saturn version of ''Scorcher'' was hyped in the press during its development, the completed game underwhelmed most critics upon release. Reviews typically commented that despite its prolonged development cycle, ''Scorcher''s graphics were still cutting edge, but that the gameplay design is flawed and overall mediocre. Lee Nutter of ''Sega Saturn Magazine'', for example, called it "A graphically excellent racing title where the gameplay appears to ...
